Wanted: M3 E46 Alloys (19 inch) - Square set up

Hi there,

I'm looking for a set of 4x front E46 M3 19 inch wheels, with or without tyres, any condition. Please let me know if you're selling a set.

Thanks. I have my eye on there also! Most set seem to be 4x rears or the standard staggered set up.

I know you are after a square set but these look a decent buy & will fit if a little pokey on the rear 8)

Thanks Mr Wilks, not a bad price at all!

I've actually bought 4 front wheels individually, just need to polish them up and save up for some tyres. I think i'll save them for next summer and fit them then!

Andrew if you need any help polishing them up just ask. It will be a labor of love!! How are you planing on doing it?

That's my next challenge! I plan to strip off the clear coat and then polish them up. I saw a guide on M3 Cutters showing how it's done so I might give it a go. It's worth noting that i've never done this sort of thing before and currently don't own a machine polisher either :?

Did you do yours? - If so, by hand or by a rotary polisher? I have to say that your wheels do look really good in the photo, the bumper is looking great too!

Yes i did mine myself. Have a go yourself you have nothing to lose. I brought a cheap polishing kit that fitted into a drill. It works ok for cleaning them up now. But didn't do much when i first started. I was a little impatient though. I am happy to post you my kit see how you get on with it. You will need a a good drill and not a battery one.

I sanded the wheels down and got them really smooth then polished. In the end i took them to a friends place and used his polishing wheel. If it dose not work out well. Your not a million miles form me bring them down and i will help you out.

Thanks i gave them a quick polish before i did the track day. I wouldn't put clear coat on when your finished. As if you do and it chips you cant polish them any more. I put a small ding in my drivers side rear a week or 2 after finishing mine :headbang: But because i didn't clear coat i was able to sand it out and re polish and now you would never know :thumbsup:

The bumper still needs work. But thanks i am very happy with it. I am having a go at some more body mods this weekend :)

I'll definitely give the polishing a go first and will give you a shout if I need a hand, i'm quite patient so I think that's half the battle won! I'm in Oxford every so often as I have friends there so maybe i'll give you a shout next time as it will be good to see your zed. I'm going to wait until the new year to do my wheels as I want to take some time off work to do them properly (i've used up all my holiday allowance for 2014 so i have no choice but to be patient! :x )

I'm thinking i'll need spacers for the front, and definitely the rear - Did you use spacers on the front?

Well next time your in Oxford PM me and come round pick the tools up. And i can give you a demonstration and you can take a look at mine. It will take time its a nice winter project just do them one at a time and keep going until your happy with them.

I have 10mm spacers on the front of mine. But i think 12 - 15mm might be better. The rears will defiantly need spacers if your going for a square set up. Might be something else i could help you with. I can either make you a set or you buy a set your call. But what we could do is start with the big spacers and machine them down until you get the stance you want. I have a little lathe in my workshop at home :thumbsup:

Sounds good to me :thumbsup:

It would be easier and better for me if you brought spacers and i mod them. There is a guy on ebay selling them dirt cheap.
 
Sounds like a plan. As long as they're aluminium I'm not too bothered, don't want to be adding too much weight with steel ones! Have a good weekend, looks like it'll be top down weather :D
