Wanted - knackered ///M brake disc

Hi all,

The boy is making a clock for a school project, and I couldn't think of a better back plate.

So, are there any worn out ones kicking about in the back of someone's garage?

I have a mate who's an ///M specialist, he might have something he's not thrown away yet - maybe from an M3/M4/Z4M.

When do you need it by?

How strong is the wall it's going to go on to? A brake disc is going to be quite heavy (i.e. about 9kg).
 
To be honest, it's more how he goes about making it rather than function.... Although it'll look good on the garage wall when he brings it home at the end of summer term. But weight is a good point I hadn't thought of, better be a front so the 'drum' isn't so deep keeping the weight close to the mounting point.

In the next week or so would be great, and not from any particular ///M just one of the drilled types. You know us proud parents, he's got to have the best in class :D

Just sent him an email to ask if he's got anything lying around, so will let you know.

If he has then we've just got yo work out how to get it from Halstead (Braintree) to you.
 
Right, he's got a few lying around, so we just need to work out a suitable time/method for the handover.

Hmmm, didn't really think this through did I :oops:

I'm commuting between Liverpool & Brentford, but not going Halstead way until Easter - and I assume my mechanic mate won't want to be making a 120 mile round trip - and won't be anywhere near Dartford until I go to Ashford on 30-Apr.
