Wanted: Ipod connection for DSP Carver Z4

Hi,

I have just purchased the wrong kit for my Z4 to connect my IPod. I purchased teh OEM Ipod Interface only to find it doesnt work with the DSP Z4...GREAT.

So now I would love to buy the right kit. Ideally I would like the DICE kit which connects to the CD changer cables in my boot and allows aux connection and direct connection to my IPod so I can charge it.

All other options welcomed.

Why won't the OEM work with the DSP? I was thinking of getting this for my DSP Z4

I'm not sure of the exact reasons, but I think it has something to do with how the sound is processed before it gets to the head unit. I am working from information from other web sites and I am waiting for BMW to get back to me to confirm if this is true. Any help from other people or other confirmations / advice would be appreciated.

I have bypassed the need for not only cutting off your cd changer but also the naffness of the OEM kit with the Harman/Kardon iDrive kit. It has a screen and a little controller which both fit very nicely to the left of the steering wheel on the dash, the screen on the silver trim and the controller underneath it. I ran the controller wires through the centre transmission tunnel trim and into the 'cupboard' at the back. It fits the iPod nicely in the little holder in the door. All the boxes and wiring fit nicely behind the stereo where there is loads of room (To the right of the stereo and feel backwards!).

The best thing of all? You can fit this system in with the supplied FM modulator which just fits into the aerial socket! It has also got an aux input for any possibility, am going to use mine for my Nokia bluetooth carkit, but it is a standard 3.5mm socklet so you can have what you like!

Would reccommend it, sounds good, looks fine and is about a hundred quid from them useless buggers at halfords!

I have a DICE kit installed in my Z4 with Carver DSP, just went in via the back of the headunit witht he supplied adapter. Works fine, can see artist/song details on NAV screen too...
