Just putting the feelers out incase anyone has one up for sale soon. :poke:

Beware I don't believe any UK carriers are yet offering unlocking on iPhone 5

However if iPhone was purchased at Apple at full price it will be unlocked .There are no other sources of non carrier locked iPhone 5 in UK

If you're on O2 you have the option to request an unlock whenever you want. Just have to go through their site.

Unless things have changed very recently O2 were NOT unlocking the iPhone 5 ,all other iPhones yes .
There is always at least 6 months plus before O2 offer unlocking on a new iPhone

the other UK carriers are even more difficult

Vodaphone unlocked mine for £20 in 4 days! Just walked into the store!!

It says you can on their website so Apple must have given O2 the green light recently.

EDIT: Just applied online to get my i5 unlocked as a test. Form successfully sent and awaiting news. Guess they'll either say fine and its done or tell me to *#ç% off.

It is nothing to do with Apple .Carriers lock phones and iPhones because they subsidise the purchase price at initial sale of the device
Apple sell at full price so they have no need to lock anything anytime and how would Apple lock to "A " carrier
This one of the great myths of the world so carriers can blame someone else and take the heat off themselves

I defer to your superior knowledge on the subject wegras! Whatever the situation we'll see soon enough if it unlocks :)

I have a pristine white 64gb that I am thinking of letting go in the next week or so. It's a handset that was issued by Vodafone and is now officially unlocked to accept all networks. it is also currently sitting on a jailbreakable OS if that appeals to you.

Let me know if you are interested and I will post some pics and come up with a price.
