Wanted - Hydraulic Pump Motor Z4MR

Looking for a replacement hydraulic pump motor. Have been through the various threads on the forum as this appears to be a common fault. Local BMW approved specialist (NCB Autokraft) has pointed me in the direction of a couple of recommended BMW breakers but nothing in stock at the moment. I'm not prepared to pay BMW £2500 for a part that I can get refurbished by ECU testing for £250. I am looking for a refurbished part or even a part that I can send off for overhaul whilst I leave mine on the car (still seems to be driving fine with no issues). Part number is 3451 6769162 03. There's a lot of Z4 ABS units on eBay for 2.5 and 3.0 models but not the M? Are they the same or not compatible???

Any help would be appreciated.

What are you doing with that car
Ive just had my 89 for air con re-gas & needs a new condenser
Ps / change the header title to ZMR although most likely same part

Is it your abs module in front left of engine bay your meaning
As post looks more like a pump issue for a roadster buddy
I paid £850 for a new abs module on my exs 2.5i
I can ask mate at BMW a price to me for an M if that's what you mean?

I think I've been cursed Andy. When you look at the thread this is a common issue and you can't believe that BMW can justify a £2.5k bill. If anything they should be recalling them and replacing them for free! Strange thing is it drives perfect.

It sits right in front of the drivers seat under the brake fluid bottle. I'm assuming it's the same as you've described. Fault Code FD05 from recollection.

Yup abs module mate

4 screws the hands of a 5 year old for bottom ones and patience
Easy in and out job mate

Just need price for part
You got a z4mc?
I'll ask mate if so

Z4MR. I could take it out myself and send it off to ECU for an overhaul. It's the refitting and bleeding I'll struggle with.

You are def on about abs module ?
I'll take a pic on one n check
All that's in the black control module is electro magnets these control the rods that go back and forth pressurising the fluid that's inside and goes into pipes at rear

The control module is simply 4 screws off
Pull gently away
New one is simply a case of slowly putting it back on 4 screws and firing car up:)

No fluids etc buddy
Ps dealer said £1005 for part
I'll email my mate n see how much from him n let you know
I don't like refurbing nor 2nd hand parts on my car on brakes or engine as life's at stake if goes wrong

That's the control module on front as you look at your car the pump and all the hoses going into it

This piece is what I'm talking about
20min job once have part

Cheers for the feedback. Let me know what price I'm looking at. Have been tracking a recon on flea bay from Germany but I guess it all depends on the costs. Can't believe they charge so much for such a small part. There's loads of them up for sale for various beamers so you've got to ask why BMW haven't sorted it out.

I'll email him tonight buddy

Yeah it's a fault ok as it is temp and heat sensitive
But what it does I guess it's worth it's money in saving you and car:)

I'd never ever fit a second hand one!
Life on own hands etc
Easy as heck to fit n remove though as said buddy
See what price he comes back with

M

Took the Z out tonight for a quick spin (God knows why as its bucketing down here) and low and behold the lights have gone out!!!! I have no idea why or for what reason and I'm airing on the side of caution before the party poppers come out but looks like I may have saved a few quid? Fingers crossed.

Is this common?

Appreciate your comments on this subject. One question I have is does this part on its own fix the fault? The reason I ask is when you follow the threads and do a search on the web it always comes up showing the whole unit as needing replacement? The black gizmo box fixed to the side doesn't seem to get a mention on its own? Does the metal parts connected to the pipes need to be replaced too? If not and provided I could make room under the bonnet I do think it'd be a simple in and out job with some patience?

Never heard of other part ie the pump go buddy
But... Depending upon the lights that come up
Sometimes it the sensor on the wheel

That's a doddle to check its a wheel off take sensor off clean it out it back and repeat then see if car likes it or not
If abs /Dsc etc and engine man light on its the module
Emailed my mate ref best price await reply

But it has a likelihood of lights go off for a while then come back I'm afraid
