WANTED: heated electric sports seats E85

Hi all,

I’ll soon be joining the Z4 fold! Found the perfect car but the only thing it’s lacking are the sports seats.

If anyone has some for sale please let me know. Must be heated and electric.

Thanks!

Break open the piggy bank then. :|
The standard seats aren't great but they're not that bad. All depends what you want from the car. What seat options does the new car have. Welcome by the way. Remember photos when you get it

They don't come up very often, keep an eye out on eBay and breakers.
Heated and electric can go for more than £500
Honestly might be worth buying a sport model if you feel you need the seats

Thanks guys, I’ll keep a lookout. Took a while to find the car, it’s an individual colour and couldn’t pass it up. I’ll be sure to post pics once I have it and it’s presentable.

Hopefully some seats pop up in the meantime!

Cheers

Contact some of the folks/scrapyards breaking zeds on ebay. See if any of those have any. Be prepared though, someone shared a link last week to a scrapyard that wanted £1,500 for a pair of M sport seats in amarone red. Daylight robbery!

Looking forward to seeing pics of your car.
I did the same - bought a car cos it was an individual colour and low miles and 3 ltr despite not having sports seats. It took a while but I eventually found a pair on here for £750, they were mint though

Does the car you are buying have non sport heated and electric seats?

If so all you need is to source a pair of manual and/or non heated seats and you can retrofit the squab and base onto your old seats. All you need different is new heated pads to fit in as rest is a direct swap across

I did this a decade ago swapping everything across

thanks, unfortunately it has bog standard non electric non heated non sport seats!

This will be a worthwhile upgrade in all respects!

The search continues....

Depending on the build date of your car, it may already be wired for electric/heated seats, just requiring the ambition of the controls. Build date is on a little sticker adjacent to the NS strut tower under the bonnet.

As said though, not only are they ££, they don't come up that often. Expect to pay £500+

OK - don't forget you can offset the cost by selling the old seats. They are in demand by the VW camper guys. One drove from Devon to the Midlands to collect mine as they are seemingly a straight fit. From memory £150 paid

Good luck with the search!

And make sure you know what you are getting - on the facelift models BMW called the SE seats "Sport" seats, whereas what you are looking for are from the Sport model and BMW called them "M-Sport" seats.

To confuse matters further, you can always buy a pair of M seats (from an M car) as I did - but they are as rare as hens teeth :)

notice the ///M logo on the head rest

Just so it's clear, to the OP. The M seats are the same seats as the M Sport ones but the M ones have a nicer nappa leather. Unlike say an e46 3 series where SE, M Sport and M were completely different from each other.

You forgot that the M seats are also faster :poke:
