As above really - I really want a grey hardtop to keep the Scottish weather out, trouble is I'm skint after buying the car and Xmas I've only got about £500 max to spend - what do you think the chances of getting one are? Probably pretty thin eh?

I wouldn't get your hopes up as half the battle would be locating someone selling the hardtop in that colour! But I'm sure for £500 you'd get yourself a sale! I know someone who managed to purchase a Black Hard Top for £500!

I'd say you were half way to the £1,100 to £1,200 needed to get one at this time of year. You may do better in the Spring as they are removed, people have no storage and less are chasing the few that appear. You might see a dip to £800 to £900 then

i don't mind investing on a hard top for 500 pounds due to the weather over here!!! :o
where can u get one?

Well a few different opinions there....fair enough. I found one today, he wants between £850 and £950 and another one just went on ebay for £870 both grey and mint. So you can easily get them for under a grand, may just have to wait till spring I guess. Should have bought gwatson's when it was up for grabs!

Whoever bought that black hardtop for £500 was a lucky bugger and I hate them :fuelfire:

I've been looking at them for months. In October they were around £950, by december they usualy went for £1100-1200, since christmas it's been more like £850-950 but now there are none on ebay.
Odd colours like red tend not to go for as much but black seems to be a bit more uncommon than they should be consdering the number of black Z4's on the road, I've seen lots more silver and grey ones.

Sounds like the price has softened a little then in the last few months, perhaps a reflection of the current economic climate and being late in the season to buy one. Still way above your target of £500.

Don't forget you could buy any colour and have a bodyshop spray it. I'd reckon £150 would get a colour change if no prep work. You also want to get the OEM bag at it's a really tricky item to store and with that you can hang it on the wall or make it safer if you choose to use a rack/stand.

At times i'd like one but they seem too much hassle, plus i don't like to have the roof folded away for too long either.

I can understand that, but overcame it by building an electric hoist in the garage roof. I can remove it in under 3 minutes. Without it's a big chunk of GRP, needing 2 people to sensibly move it around.

Leaving the roof folded, so long as well dried, has no nagative impact. Mine was down all last Winter and didn't have any extra marks or creases.
