Did you buy the high mileage ///M with a Gruppe M for sale recently? (IIRC from Kensington) That would explain why you might want an OEM intake and exhausts.

It would be interesting to hear what you find in the way of inefficiencies from the OEM induction system, presuming you are planning to take measurements...

No, I'm buying one with low mileage

I'm a big fan of BMW's air-intake systems and I doubt if I'll find much in the way of inefficiencies, but I think that it can be improved some more. I intend to use measurements of the OEM state as the baseline from which I can experiment with modding of the intake/exhaust systems. I've learned a lot from modding my S54 Z3MC using datalogging and therefore think that there is more still to come from some judicious tweaks to the Z4 MC's OEM systems. I need to do various bits of "surgery" to the OEM parts, so I want to retain a set of undamaged OEM parts in case I attempt a mod which datalogging proves does not work as hoped, hence my need for duplicate parts.

I shall enjoy finding out what does, and doesn't, work. 8)

I have no intention of selling my car but if I did I have two separate individuals (unconnected with the Forum) who would buy it off me tomorrow for a price I would be more than happy with. One also happens to own a 458 Italia, an original Ford Gt40 and a BMW M1 so he clearly knows a good car when he sees one.
