Wanted - entry level laptop

Ok, found the same one at one of the whole salers for £272 (ex vat) with 6 Gb or RAM. Great tip, thanks, especially as I will be able to recover most of the outlay anyway by selling them on.

Funny how seeking help in selecting a laptop ended of value to you :)

Just about finished the endless updates to get mine loaded and ready...

Thanks CJ, much appreciated

Free coffee standing ready for when you next drop in.

I have always dealt for bulk buys for PC kit in the past with http://www.ebuyer.co.uk who often have very good prices on some stock if they have a large quantity of the item or end of line etc.. Get a bit off for quantity order.

For e.g. Toshiba Satellite Pro C50-A-166 Laptop currently £279. They would probably put some extra RAM in to make up to 8GB for you. I guess £300 would do it. They also do free postage above £50 and usually deliver within 2 days even with standard delivery. Never had problem with them and on odd occasion when I needed a return they were excellent. Bought loads of kit over the years from them.

Other higher spec Toshibas for £299 upwards and they have a wide range of all makes to choose from. I am typing this on an elderly Toshiba A200 which has been excellent.

I recently went OTT and bought a £1000+ Acer Aspire S7 392 i5 Ultrabook which is brilliant but still using the Tosh for a lot of stuff.

I advise not upgrading to Windows 8.1 for a while as there are a number of issues which I have found annoying e.g. System image backup supposedly removed in this version 8.1 but is buried in there but unfortunately doesn't work! Using Macrium free version for now.

Just to come back to this one, I bought the laptops and the client is being trained this week. Very good kit actually for the money and cheaper than renting.

Should have taken you up on that offer of coffee then as I came around the M25 last week.

Really like my laptop too for the money. I've just about returned all the Windows 8 stuff back to classic so it's usable...

Yes, that will be the case.

I am loading a VM image on the machines and will drop that afterwards so the machine will be in an "out of the box" state.

I will offer it to the staff first, as it will have about 10 months warranty left by the time the training has been completed.

can i be 3rd in line for one after your staff and the guys on here? ::
