Hi folks - new car is incoming (Sport 30i in grey) and I want to change the wheels (currently on 17"s) - anyone got any grey/silver 18"'s for sale? Ideally with tyres but can sort that easily enough if not. Based down in Zummerset...

If not, any pointers (other than eBay, already scouring that!)

Thanks

Very little difference in ride quality between 18’s and 19’s on the E89 - you should have a look at smartbears veemanns for sale in the classifieds

Thanks for that - just assumed 19” would be too firm. Have you had any experience around which tyres give a good balance between comfort/performance?

Yes, for 19’s I’d go 235/35/19 fronts and 255/35/19 rears - this is a taller rear tire than the standard 30 profile, but gives more comfort and is a much cheaper tire than than 265/30/19. I’ve used this combination on two E89’s now and had no issues with either- there’s a fair bit of discussion in the E89 sub-forum on this. Your Speedo will be almost 100% accurate with this tire configuration too

Nice one, thanks again, very useful.

Smartbear (Roberto) is also in Zummerzet.
Presuming your new car is SE spec if it has 17" wheels? If so, the suspension is softer than the M-sport so 19s will not be as harsh anyway.

Agree with True-Blue with the rest! I have 35 profiles on the rear of mine (19s) instead of 30. It's all good!

I’ve dropped Rob a message (he’s only about 20mins away) so really good shout, thanks.
It’s actually an M Sport which someone has retrofitted 17s to - they look ok but I think bigger would definitely look better, just don’t want to ruin the ride. Wouldnt got near run flats, having had them before, so I’m hoping decent tyres on 19s are still ok?

There are zillion threads on this on the forum. I am still using runflats (cos the barstads refuse to wear out) on 19s on M-sport suspension. It is a little....erm....firm to say the least, but the consensus is swapping to non RFTs is a BIG improvement.
