Not really interested in the condition of the back box as long as the tail pipes are Ok. Going to use them to create a dummy exhaust for my quad conversion. I have been quite specific as to the model of exhaust I need, because what I have read, the tail pipes on the different models do vary and I have 4 exhaust tips for my 2004 2.5i model

I think visually all ore facelift (not 2,0) look the same it’s the fitting on the end you can’t see that’s different.

Pipes coming out of the box as well as the chrome tips are different diameters Mat.

Fully aware of that Mike.

But I am assuming if a quad is being made there will be some fabricating. As the backbox won’t be fitting in there. And because of that surly any one tskingbon the job should be able to work around the size difference.

My understanding be the OP just wants visually the same tips. Also unless the battery box is being removed the tips will need cutting down in length do it really might not matter what tips they are.

Op how are you planning on doing the the quad?

Battery box is not being removed, so it will be a wholly non functional. I was asked to get hold of a set of ends by the fabricator and it seemed sensible to get them attached to a back box. He wanted to make sure that the ends on the exhaust would match both sides so that the tips I am putting on will fit

I am sure it won’t matter then. Get tips from any pre face 6 cylinder z4.

When you say non functional? Are you not conecting it up at all?? It can be done a few different ways I am sure your guy can connect it up. It will be a bit daft if it’s not connected will it not?!

Are the tips not all the same just the fittings that are different?
Nope, they are different.

Mike

Learn somthing new every day how are they different Mike?

Although they are the same outside diameter, the 2.2 & 2.5 tips have "flutes" in them so that they fit onto the smaller pipes of the corresponding boxes, the 3.0 doesn't. As a result they aren't interchangeable. If you look on real oem, they have different part no's as do the backboxes themselves.

Ok Mike I get that buddy!
But for what the OP wants? Dose it matter?
He wants a set of tips to match his other tips? He is having a quad fitted. He isn’t fitting the back box?
And the tips themselves will have to be cut from around 100mm long to about 50mm or less so they can be fitted?
So dose the fluting matter or just how they look as they stick out the Bumper?
Only the op can decide.

But if it where me I would not be caring what 6 cylender pre facelift z4 they came off?!? As it won’t matter a hoot?!

Unless they actually look different at the bit you will see sticking out from the Bumper?
I am fairly sure it will but we are not 100%
