OK it's a long shot but my 17 year daughter has passed her test a month ago spent all her money on the car, insurance etc. generally drained dads pocket and now wants a small cheap sat nav.

Dowes anyone in the UK have an unit that they have upgraded from, that they would like to sell at a reasonable price?

Cheers CJ

I've got an old TomTom 700 that I've since upgraded to a 730T.

You're welcome to it if you want it - although I'll have to check that I've got the bits for it (AC power, windscreen mount, 12v adapter, etc.)

Let me know if it's any use and I'll start opening cupboards, drawers and boxes to see. Although I'm not guaranteeing it'll work forever.

Alternatively, I've got an old large-scale map she can have :D

--------------------------------------------------------

Edited to add: I've found the complete kit if your still in need - there's a box (of course), plus the rest of the packaging, there's a couple of different mounts, AC & 12v power cables, carry bag, USB lead, software, instructions, etc. It all seems to be working, and I've wiped any personal info off it, reset it to factory defaults and installed the latest speed camera database on it.

You know I've tried to tell her that we used to be able to get around with a road atlas on the passenger seat and directions on a piece of paper held on the centre of the steering wheel, but seems these days they are too busy texting and dialling on the mobiles to be able to do all that too....

Seriously something like that would be perfect and even if you can't find the charger I'm sure I can get one of those as they must be fairly generic.

pm me - let me have a price and postage and I'll get it sorted with you

I would not even give my old Garmin away in case it offended someone :)

It could also be seen as an offensive weapon due to the size I presume ...

 I hear you.
mmm-five has come up trumps with something for her so no need to break the car with such weight.

I'd really like to thank mmm-five as I met up with him today and he gave me a Tom Tom 700 for my daughter. I need to avoid gushing emotional comment, but for me it's such things that make a forum like this and the reason I love being a part of it. :D

....and that aside he can turn in a decent lap around Oulton Park in his Z4M

Your welcome mate - I can just about handle two satnavs at once, so it would have just been in the way.

Spot on........ Group love :D

Ive not got a sat nav but after the weekends faffing about trying to find some god forsaken place with a printed out mulitmap planner im now looking to get one!

Cheers
