Ready to go ASAP

Sean

Hi and welcome to the forum by the way.

Strange isn't it, red would have been my 1st choice of colour!

Still not everyone is a fan, so good luck finding the right one.

And once you have don't forget that we like to see photos.

Thank you for your quick reply.

It took me a long time to sell my last car and have waited long enough so keen to buy one ASAP

Sean

Mike

Many thanks for posting details of your car.

I’ve been offered a black, 2007 with 60k and a grey /ivory leather for £17,000 through a dealer. It was on for £18,500 having been reduced. I really wanted to see what I could get privately before buying this one next week if nothing comes up.

Prices seem to be all over the place
Cheers

Sean

No worries Sean, all the best with the search

And  those Super Sports are very good (picture is the right way up on my browser!)

That is true, and there’s an element to the market adjusting to it, but for as long as I can remember there’s always been a considerable spread of Z4M prices because the servicing and parts costs are such a high % of purchase price.

On a <£20k car, you often see a swing of up to a grand either way, based on proximity to Inspection 1/2, brake and tyre condition, or preventative maintenance like bearing shell replacement or a Vanos overhaul.

Hi Sean

I've got mine on the market currently

Any q's drop me a line.

Hi

Looks lovely

The one I’ve seen is a Dec 2007 with 61k miles and because I now have nothing to sell they will accept £17k for it with a 3 month warranty. 4 owners and a pretty good spec but without heated seats but the service history is excellent.

I was hoping to find one through a forum member but doesn’t seem to be that much around. The stuff on eBay and autotrader seems to have been on for ages and prices all over the place !!

Thanks

Sean

Well two forum members have come forward and presented their cars  I would guess that it is the asking price of both being above the car you’ve been offered that’s causing the issue.

As Mr PT said, prices fluctuate a lot on these because of service and maintenance costs. They are 12-14 year old cars now so a service history doesn’t necessarily paint a good car. I’d be looking for evidence of things over and above an Oil/Insp1/Oil/Insp 2 pattern before parting any cash. Back when I was looking in 2017 the things that always stood out to me were brakes past their best and tyres with plenty of tread but covered in age cracks.

Looking at current adverts I can't help feeling I got mine for a good price, but I did buy the week before Christmas and I knew it was due an Inspection 1 soon as it's only had oil services since it had an Inspection 2 28K miles ago. :(

And as Mr PT said things like impending jobs are going to be a significant factor with pricing. Fortunately mine has good brakes all round, although one front tyre is pretty worn on it's inner edge so an alignment is due as well!

I agree with Mike, forum members won’t underprice their cars to suit a ‘looker’.

Dealers don’t want stock hanging around for ages so they will drop prices.

Everyone loves a bargain, sometimes you have to wait 😉

hello Mike,

a quick question: what's the feedback on the Bilstein B12 kit? I live in Ireland and the overly firm ride is driving me insane :(

I think at 17k @Simsy, that's a good deal on the face of it. Great cars, you won't regret it. I like the heated seats personally but when I was searching, I was a take or leave it with the parking sensors / sat nav etc. Mine just so happened to have those in. I also don't think mileage is that important for the age of the car personally They are very well built and if maintained well, then double the mileage, you've still got a lot of car for the money. People that have been offering 1k less etc I've said with real sincerity to look at a higher mileage ones. If you can get a well looked at one for 17k at that mileage, happy days, suspect it won't hang around too long!

I'm impressed with it, I know there are mixed opinions regarding the B12 Kit, appreciate it is hard to compare fairly due to the age of the cars and degradation of suspension components. Would be nice to compare brand new Z4M kit with the B12 kit back-to-back but the cost of going OEM replacement for everything and you might as well buy some really good coilovers!

Compared to the 12 year old Z4M setup they were a significant improvement, still quite firm but not crashy whatsoever. The car aligned really well with a nice amount of 'natural' Camber that came with the lower stance.

I imagine if you didn't want the ride height reduction from the Eibach springs supplied, there are no issues running the BMW springs with the Bilstein dampers.

Without a doubt it will be a significant improvement if you are running the original parts :)

If you still have the OEM front springs, suggest you swap them back in but keep the eibach rears (as they’re softer than OEM so car doesn’t skip as much)

For road use IMO is far better, as you have a bit more travel & the new billy dampers work really well with the softer OEM front springs

Thank you, Mike. I really appreciate the feedback and advice
(now off to check my rear springs...maybe the noise from the rear is from a snapped spring?)
