Hi
I'm currently searching all car sale sites for a Z4 3.0 Si. My criteria is obviously 06 plate onwards hence the Si and no more than 60000 miles on the clock. I live in Hampshire and willing to travel for the car with the correct spec. Budget wise I'm up to £10000,best to be honest. So if your sitting on the fence thinking of selling such a car please message me and save yourself advertising fees.
Kind Regards
Nick

Hello Nick - welcome to the Forum

You should have the money to find yourself a 2006 3.0si but you may have to be patient for a low mileage version with preferred options.

They are a sought after model and prices are strong. You may have to travel to get the Zed you want. I searched for 8 months to buy mine at my price point and had to compromise with colour and options.

All the best with your search.

One at the Capitol car centre Preston . It's listed on eBay. I haven't had a close look yet but will do over the weekend. Dell

Well spotted Dell. Hadn't seen that one, funny thing about ebay they tend to advertise on the high side in general but going on the mileage that's a good buy.

Nick that's a fairish price for such a low mileage example but take note it is a 3.0si in SE trim not a 3.0si Sport.

It does not have M sports seats, M sports steering wheel, multi-functional steering wheel, m sport wheels (so the tyres are cheaper being non staggered (I think) and 17inch with higher side walls, 1cm lower m sport suspension.

The engine is the full 265bhp as used in the 3.0si Sport version but it lacks the above options.

The ride will be better (not as harsh/hard and more compliant) than the Sport version and as mentioned tyres are far less expensive than the staggered low profile of the Sport. Some road testers preferred the ride of the SE version over the Sport but because of the looks and image, the Sport version was the better seller and more popular. The seats are wider but lack the higher side bolster support of the Sport seats (probably more comfortable if you don't have a 'sports' rear and are on the portly side

For information and I hope it helps with your search and any negotiation.

It's also possible to find an si se that's had all the sport options ticked so that in essence it's the same as the sport model (as mine is)

Best move I made joining forum before buying the car, many thanks gents. I think I will be more tempted by the se trim on what you say. The mrs is wheelchair bound hence I'm selling me Lotus 7 replica no longer practical. I have test driven a 07 Si and if wheels are removed the wheelchair fits in the boot just. The car is strictly a weekend car and after much research seems to tick all the boxes. Thanks again the search goes on

there's actually two quite well priced blue z4 3.0si on autotrader....

the first I've seen and driven but discounted because I felt it was a little over priced in that it needed new tyres and the bodywork was a little tired along with the seats, but the guys selling is geniune and the car is straight, engine was spot on and it drove really well. I haggled him down to £8k, but I reckon he would probably take £7750. It's listed on at auto trader for £8.5k, it's in milton keynes and has great history.

The other one has full bmw sh and is also under bmw warranty, which if I hadn't had bought my s2000 I would be viewing it tomorrow!!

Can't find the Milton Keynes one. The black 2007 with 44000 looks perfect but over 120 miles from me so I would want to be sure. That's up for £8995

Hi, been down to the garage today and the car is marked as sold :-( drivers seat bolster shows some ware, discs and callipers are grubby and car looks like it's been kept outdoors unused for sometime. Paintwork looks ok and a fair dollop of tlc would work wonders. Of course sale may fall through and I'll keep an eye on it. I wasn't able to access and start the car due to it being potentially sold. Good luck with your quest!

After scouring the car sale sites, seems to have gone a bit quite.
Must admit thought the beginning of the summer would bring a lot up on the market.

Can anyone sum up the main difference between the 3.0 I (pre Si) and the 2007 Si, now thinking I should expand my search.

Cheers
Nick

The facelift si models were available from 06 & had the magnesium n52 engine with valvetronic as opposed to the earlier cars which had the m54 engine without valvetronic, both engines have dual vanos but the valvetronic gives a bit more power (230 against 265) and also a couple more mpg-si cars have larger front brakes as well.
Doors had more sound deadening and roof motors had a weatherproof jacket, which may or may not help with water damage issues
There were subtle differences in the electrics which others will know more about.

That's descidedthen.Z4 Si it is then, just a waiting game now. I suppose if I look at the bright side the longer I wait the more I will save. Fate may turn out to be a Z4 M :D

Sorry slightly off topic. I have come across a possible buy, and noticed on the description a 6 cd multichanger . Does this mean it isn't the basic stereo fitting as the advert does not mention a upgrade.

A wise choice, Sir!

I was in a very similar position to you about 6 months ago and I came to the same conclusion. As others have said and which I hadn't realised at the time, they are actually a sort after model and when it came to finding a good, low mileage one for sale it wasn't as easy as I thought it might have been. Therefore, I wouldn't be so sure that waiting longer is going to make them any cheaper. The Z4Ms seem to have been steadily creeping up in value and opening up a significant gap thus I don't think the 3.0Si is going to be pushed down in value now. When one thinks hard and realistically about things (as I did) and if you don't intend to do track work then the 3.0Si represents a very capable, fast road car without the M car ownership/running costs.

I ended up paying slightly more than your budget for mine but that was from a reputable dealer rather than a private sale so it came with 12 months very comprehensive looking warranty included plus I bought an additional 2 years worth of warranty on top of that. I also ended up getting rid of the Runflat tyres immediately in favour of some Goodyear AS2s which transformed the ride but this added circa another £500 to the cost of the car.

Mine is a pretty standard "Si" spec car I think so you can see what they come with from these data:

Good luck with the search!
