WANTED: BMW Z4 2.5i or 3.0 Max £3k

Hello,
Seems like we have had similar car quandries.......twice I have looked at Boxsters and then chosen Z4s...... as another forum member said, a cheap Z4 will be a safer bet than a cheap Boxster (I saw some absolute sheds in my price range).....if you do go for the Boxtser, read up on the bearing issue and the nikasil issue.....
I think £3k for a 3.0 is wishful thinking, but good luck with the hunt.

Agree with all of the above. I've been looking for a 3.0 Z4 or Boxster for a lot longer than I anticipated but having read (and read) all the pros and cons on both forums I've now decided against the Porsche 
I've hopefully found a car via this forum that ticks most of my 'want' boxes but the mileage is slightly higher than I'd like so I'm still keeping a keen eye on the 'For Sale' section.

Yes you both have it spot on with my wishful thinking but I did set out for a 2.5i whilst I searched for a Boxster. Almost feel like an expert on the Boxster at the moment IMS, RMS etc etc 
The Boxster I was searching for was 96/97 red on red, probably closest to classic you going to get.
Looking on eBay last week finally nudged me into the Z4 lane as I seen pictures of what looked like two Porsche Boxster salvage yards full of 986 & 7s which brought a tear to my eye! The Z4 looks easier to work on, more accessible and parts are more affordable, I test drove a 2003 2.5i just befor Xmas and was well impressed but looking through this and other forums the 3.0 sounds like better option.

Good luck finding you're perfect car for only 3k .. Think you might need to stretch you're budget abit.
