I got mine from Cotswold BMW for the same price as BMW Plymouth:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-BMW-6-Speed-M-Leather-Gear-Knob-Black-E46-E60-61-E63-64-F25-F26/201976999822?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160727114228%26meid%3D60341a43b1954da991a1ffaf15b039c9%26pid%3D100290%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D3%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D201976999822&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507
Which seems to be the same as on an E46. (Same Part number).
The only issue with the E46 is it has to be a facelift Sport model - prior to the facelift all E46s have a 5 speed box and only 330is, 320ds, 330ds and 325tis got the 6-speed box with the facelift. And SE models had a different knob AFAIK.
I believe there is an illuminated ZHP - I think it is from the E39 M5, but then you need to find an electrical feed.
Make that change - the ZHP is so much better than the standard one!

dgm said:To the best of my knowledge the six speed box was standard on all 330s, pre and post facelift. I think on the 325 too.

Definitely not standard on the 325i - my nephew's 325i Touring on a 54 plate has a 5-speed.
And this pre-facelift 330Ci only has a 5-speed (see photo 14):-

2003[edit]
In March 2003, the facelift (LCI) versions of the coupe and convertible models (except M3) were released for the 2004 model year.
Manual transmission for 330 models upgraded from 5-speed to 6-speed.

jamie_z4 said:All pre facelift coupes should have been 5 speed. I've owned over 25 e46s now many of them 330ci and even 03 plate pre facelift cars were 5 speed
They introduced the 6 speed box on all facelift coupes and saloon/touring after March 2003 build date.
The 325ti was the only non 3 litre e46 aside the m3 to have a 6 speed box
