Looking for a z4 3.0 for around the 9.5k mark with less than 60000 miles..
anyone think i am being unrealistic???
torn between the z4 and the s2000 but the z4 is growing on me more and more by the day...

You may struggle for that budget, ive been looking for a while and there arnt many examples with low milage for that price.

never say never tho :)

I was at my buddies wheel shop this week and he had in a 3.01 53 plate manual, no sat nav, standard seats, halogen, etc (so bottom spec) and it has just sold for £13k :!:

Makes £9.5 look low, but you never know what you'll find. I assume you've scoured Ebay, Pistonheads, Autotrader?

CJ, even at this time of year, whoever sold that car must have been a great salesman!

TUGTAYLOR, I think it may be tough. You'll need to run a wide search. Also, keep an eye on Merlot cars - cost less as they are less desirable, but I think they look great. Re-sale will be lower, but if you saved on the purchase, who cares! Also, check out the FAQ in the General Discussions. You'll see what options you can easily retrofit, omissions of which are cause for price reduction. Also, you'll see what questions to ask about condition and maintenance. Don't be put off though, a lot can be sorted easily.

Finally, check the list on AlanJ's sig - again may be little things on there to help get the price down.

It's a great car. Good luck

I can't disagree there - just an observation of a sale made in the last 48 hours. My buddy did up the wheels, calipers and disks fot he selling garage.

I do find it amazing that some people will just buy the first thing they see and not research the market... a friend does that, if it's within his budget he can't be bothered with the hassle. Can make it difficult for the next person that walks in looking to pay market value.

At the other end, some people do the opposite when selling and completely under-price something. Hopefully the OP will manage to find one of those.

I am one of those people that will research and wait for the right one to come along even if i am on a tight budget.. i have been to see 2 in the last week within my price range but have decided to carry on looking for the right one as i am in no rush.. there does seem to be a massive difference in valuations both high and low and how some dealers are still in buisness is beyond me??? :?

You do the the right thing tugtaylor in not being cornered to need one now.
This is the sort of car where a good 2003 is a better bet than a poor 2006, yet valuations will be massively different. Private sellers often overvalue their pride and joy, equally they know and look after them. Dealers have no idea as they just use Glasses or whatever they can get away with.

Different market to buying and selling a Ford Focus.

Sounds like you would, but if you're buying from and indi dealer check them on the web first... not sure where you are but avoid Big Motoring World, I do worry people are going to be sucked in as they sometimes have some seemingly very well priced cars. Oh, here's why, quite an entertaining thread...

I'd say for the budget, try and go private - you get so much more for your money.

The threads on here provide all the information you'll need to hunt out a good one and what to watch out for... I got (I finally pick it up this weekend) a 3.0 53, all the options and 37k for £10000. It needed a mild wash and brush up but is now a shiny example of Z4 loveliness which according to Autotrader or Pistonheads would be worth about £12500 if a dealer was selling it.

In your face stealers.

Cheers for the posts people much appreciated ..
Thanks for the heads up pawnsacrifice i was seriously thinking of heading down there tomorrow but i wont bother now
Neiljones i know the car you are on about and i am gutted i missed it :( hope you enjoy it and i will have to keep on looking :D
and sorry sarbk i am after a 3.0

Interesting thread on big world and a great partial read.

I went their a few weks back as I happened to be working in West Malling. Lot of cars on show but looked like a giant version of a corner garage.

Now I think of it many of them were poor spec. but didn't really do more than kick the tyres on a few.

my z4 - absoulte stunner!
