Wanted 3.0 either E85 / E89

Hi, newbie to this forum

Currently on the lookout for a Z4 in 3l guise but unsure of which model to go for, I will be selling my current 430d and looking to come out of finance and buy outright once again.

Looking at what's out there at the moment a facelift 3.0si seems to be just about in budget (circa £7k) but then a 35i E89 seems to be about £12k. I can stretch to the latter but depends on the example.

I intend to test drive an example of each but would prefer an enthusiasts car, hence the post.

Any buying advice or examples would be appreciated, I'm located near Leeds if anyone's local

Keep your eye on the Forum Market place, members often post their P&Js here before selling outside
 
2 totally different machines 8) do your homework , do some testdriving & whichever you choose you are in the right place for info , meets & general Zness :) welcome :thumbsup:
 
Going from a 430 to E85 might be to much of a jump backward regarding toys/ interior build,definitely got to test drive :)

I'm still on the lookout for a 3.0 E89 having sold my E85 - anything less than 3litre would feel like going backwards so am resigned to having to wait for the right car - have a budget of between £12k and £15k so looking around 2009/2010 under 45k miles and good provenance.

In the OP's position I would also think an E85 is probably going back a bit too far - having said that there seem to be a few E85 3.0Si 's around whereas very few E89 3,0Sdrive in manual ( a must for me ) more autos about if you don't have a real preference .

My problem is living here on the IOW severely restricts going off to view potential cars - don't know where the OP lives but this one looks okay although it has been up for sale for a while

One or two 35i's also around - but tbh turbo's etc sound expensive to maintain .

Thanks for all the replies so far, I do have a slight concern that an E85 would be a step too far having had an E46 and E82 previously both of which at the time of selling I thought were a bit outdated.

Equally I'm no doing the mileage I was before so the car will be a weekend car either way.

The silver one looks good but just a bit far for an initial test drive, once I've made my mind up I'd be happy to travel for the right example
