Wanted - 3.0 E85 roadster

Hello all!

So I'm relatively new here, but figured I'd stick this up in the hopes anyone here is looking to sell theirs. I'm after an E85 roadster, with the 3.0 engine, max budget £6000.

Highly desired:
Sport seats
Sports wheel

Desired, but no deal breaker:
MFSW
Xenons
Bluetooth connectivity

Nice to haves:
The other options :P

I'm hoping to pick one up in either dark blue, grey or silver (or maybe black) ideally with red leather interior, although this isn't a requirement.

Based near Manchester, but willing to travel throughout the UK mainland for the right car. Age and mileage aren't a concern, condition is key on this sort of car I feel.

So nothing too demanding, right?

They are out there and you'll be just fine with your budget if you compromise on 1 or 2 of the choices for the right car. Budget is high enough if you accept an older model

Mine is just about to go to a new home and has everything single you ask for and a lot more, so they exist, if rare

I expect a couple of compromises. Seen quite a nice looking one actually, 06 3.0si but no MFSW or xenons... debating it! Only issue is it's about 200 miles away :?

Travel for the right car
If it's at a dealers then likely a local member will swing by and take a look for you

I'm happy to travel, just don't want to go that distance and it be a dud, would be a dull drive home!

How important is a specialist service history? I've spoken to the seller and it's got a part BMWSH and part independent garage, but maintaining the recommended intervals.

I've also been looking and it seems retrofitting the MFSW buttons isn't too big a job? And halogens, while not ideal, can be upgraded to HID?

The older the car the less it matters. Indy service to spec. is just as good. On later models MFSW is near plug and play. Might need coding but not biggie. Xenons are covered in your other thread

Hi mJennings,

It might be worth you popping out to have a look at my '04 3.0se as I'm not too far away in next to Chatsworth in the Peak District. The car is black with red sports seats, heated and electrically adjustable, MFSW, 10 speaker wireless, cruise control. Not xenons though I'm afraid. It's having all new discs and pads on, it's had new springs all round, a new alternator and battery with warranty, rebuilt disa valve, a new roof motor within the last 2 years. The body is totally straight with just one small ding on the rear N/S quarter. It's currently got a steering fault but this is being dealt with within the next two weeks. At just tipped 100k it ideally needs the bonnet and front bumper painting due to road rash, but obviously not essential. There are no water or oil leaks, it pulls very very well, it's a cracking engine. I won't be asking 6k for it either. Although not ready yet I think it's worth you having a look.

Anyway your call my friend, just though I'd put it up in case you were interested.

Many thanks for the link, and the offer. It does indeed look like a well kept one, but even with negotiation I fear it will be significantly over budget at present!

John,
I'd be happy to pop over some time when you're ready to let it go, if I haven't found anything in the mean time.

take an obd scanner with you to scan for fault codes on any potential purchase. could save you a lorra wonga...

If you've not picked one up by then in the next week or two my grey '05 3.0 with 84k or so miles will be up for sale. My wife is using it in the short term whilst her car gets a few faults seen to but after that it will be getting a once over & clean before putting up for sale.

The car is fully loaded with options; sat nav, bluetooth, xenons, sports seats, sports steering wheel with controls etc, 108 5 spoke wheels, cup holders, folding wing mirrors, auto-tinting rear view mirrors, wind deflector - can't think of others but it's got more or less everything as I held out for a car with as many options as possible when buying. Edit: One thing it's missing though is cruise control, otherwise I think the original purchaser went crazy with tickboxes :)

It's currently on Eibach springs although I'm thinking of refitting stock sport springs to sell the car. Brakes were done not long before I bought the car at the end of last year and the tyres are almost new non-runflats. Has decent service history but not full. When I bought the car I gave it a good service which I have all the receipts for.

Does have a few niggles - Off top of my head; Front bumpers been scraped a few times because of how low it is, Drivers side heated seat doesn't work more often than not. Parking sensors work but after replacing the far right one that particular sensor doesn't work - rest are a-ok though. Wheel nuts are aftermarket studs & nuts - I've bought standard wheel bolts and hoping to swap these before sale (but likewise if buyer would prefer studs/nuts happy to leave as is)

I can message you when I'm ready to let it go if potentially of interest. That said if you can get a 3.0si for your budget then that's probably where I'd personally look  wouldn't think you'd get all the toys though

I've been looking at this one myself. Think it's a bit overpriced but may go see it this weekend. I'm based Edinburgh

Mine is also going up for sale in the next 2 weeks. Been putting it off for a while but the missus now has her new RAV4 meaning either the X3 or the Z4 have to go. As we have a teenager and a big dog she has told me that (I'll just end the explanation here as I'm sure you can work out the rest for yourself).

Will get some pics up as soon as I've given her a good wash/wax/valet. You can see most of the spec from my sig. Car is an Aug 2003 registration with a dateless 'Z4' plate (IFZ4992). It has 74k miles on and never sits outside when not in use always kept in a garage (previous owner confirmed same) so no clogged drainage channels and green moss here. Wheels were professionally refurbed about 6 months ago and I had new Avons fitted all round. Both rear springs replaced last year (Suplex). In addition to annual oil changes with MOT other stuff done in my ownership (most of which preventative not actually needed) includes Disa valve mod, aux belts replaced, all 6 coil packs renewed (Bosch) spark plugs replaced (NGK Iridium), expansion tank replaced, starter motor replaced, all 4 brake disks replaced and pads fitted with new fitting kits/sensors and brake fluid renewed.

I know that I will get more back from this car if I start removing some of the upgrades such as digital TV receiver, Intravee/Alpine, Hardtop (with 2 covers and stand) but I would genuinely prefer it to go to a Forum Member as a complete package. I think it's a £4,750 car without the extras which are worth an easy £1,250. Pretty sure my Forum all in price will be £5,500. I'll post an advert with pics as soon as she's been nicely cleaned up. :(

So, an update!

First off I don't think I specified a manual was required, while an auto would be nice for lazy driving I still prefer the feel of a manual.

I've been talking with John and hopefully popping out to see his soon. I am still looking however, I think the recent sunny weather has started making me loathe having a fixed roof on my car!

Hi mjennings23,
I have a 3.0l Si Roadster in silver with navy nappa leather m seats (heated/memory) that is an approved BMW purchase and I have transferable BMW warranty on it through to December 17'.
I live near Richmond N Yorks.
I am simply not using it so considering sale but not plucked up the courage to advertise (really not wanting to get rid but i know i must).
It is in superb condition, 07' plate with 41,600 miles and as approved BMW, has full BMW service history. The next service is an oil service in 7600 miles.
I can not however go as low as £6000. If that's your ceiling then I am waiting your time. If you can go higher (looking for ~£8000) we should talk more!

Regards.

While that sounds like cracking value for £8k, it is unfortunately out of my budget at present so will have to pass. Good luck with the sale though, if you ever get brace enough to let it go! :P
