Wanted 224s or CSLs

I'm viewing a 3.0si coupe on Saturday and it's most likely that I will be driving it home, the wheels are horrible and in poor condition so my first job will be replacement wheels & tyres.

If anyone has any 224s I would be interested in talking to you, otherwise I shall probably buy a set of 19" CSL replicas through CM Wheels.

Hi Tyreman,
Check out some opinions on this subject of 19s , they can be harsh and unforgiving on what is an already stiff car

Can be negated with choice of tyre sizes & brand though :wink:

They look sooooooooooooooooo good though :thumbsup:

I’m with mr wilks. I had 18” mv2’s with runflats and changed them for csl reps with 225 35 and 255 30 rubber and they are a massive improvement over the standard set up.

I have set of CSL reps from CM wheels for sale. They need a refurb due to some light curbing and come fitted with vredestein ultrac vorti tyres. 5mm tread on the back and 6mm on the front.

There are M offets, so may not suit your car, but if you’re looking at 224s then maybe you already know what will/won’t fit.

PM me if interested.

As I understand it 224s will fit but 19" CSLs with M offsets will be too wide ?

Correct me if I'm wrong......... :?

Nope , you are correct , if they are the usual CSL reps for ZMs they will struggle on a non M E85 e86 Z4

Generally with E86 Si i would aim for 8.5j et 40 9.5j et 40 & try to stay as close to those numbers as poss . 8j fronts will help but rare with many aftermarket alloys .
Tyre sizes that i prefer are 235 35 on 8.5j & 255 35 on 9.5j but wheel offset + width needs to be considered when deciding on exact tyre sizes .

To be fair, swapping from runflats to non-runflats is going to be a massive improvement regardless of the alloy choice.

I have a set of those 19" CSL style wheels in Hyper Silver on my Z4M. They are effectively brand new with new tyres on them (the brand is Event...which I've never heard of so can't say yay or nay on them). They were fitted brand new by the dealer I bought the car from. They (both the wheels and tyres) have only been driven the distance from Ripon (where the dealership was) to Lincoln (where I am) which Google says is 103 miles plus about 4 miles...because that's the distance I have only ever driven my Z4M.

I have some refurbished 224s to go on my car but don't have the spare cash to buy tyres for them. So if someone wants to make me a decent offer for the 19"s...?

Agreed. Runflats are the absolute worst thing on a Z4. Comparisons between 18" over 19" pale against Runflats vs Non-Runflat.

I would have bought the 19s but unfortunately the wrong offsets again lol :headbang:

I have just taken a couple of the wheels of my car to check the measurements stamped on the inside.

Just to clarify, the wheels on my E85 Z4M are the following:

Rears = 19" 9.5J ET38 and also had a 2.5 mm spacer fitted

Fronts = 19" 8.5J ET36 no spacer

Hope that helps?

I'll just go and re-check the tyre dimensions as well!

The rears would usually be et 27/30ish for M cars so possibly intended for E90 ?

The rears 9.5j et 38 will fit any non M Z4s fine ( & clearly Ms too but ideally want a wider spacer than 2mm ( 10mm better )
The fronts , , , 8.5j et36 could divide forum opinion here :? "possibly" ok on a roady with 225 35 tyre & if car not significantly lowered , maybe a slight rub on Si coupe when driving spiritedly ? :driving: they are borderline fitment numbers imo as i know members who have had rubbing with 8.5 et 38 19s & 8j et 35 19s until tyre sizes were reduced to a slight stretch
