Was more a patch of bubbles. Last owner was a lawyer which explains the neglect.

This was the 2006 3.0si for £8995 ? Never fails to amaze me how sellers, private or dealers , describe their cars and make no effort to prepare it properly - with that mileage and price it would need to be in top condition - I know how you feel - another wasted journey - after being persuaded to sell my first zed I went for miles ( off the Isle of Wight where I live ) to try and find a genuine car , being told each one was virtually a minter only to find at best a mediocre example that had worn leather , dints , resprayed bits and wheels that needed refurbishing .

You have to be patient I'm afraid - there will be "the one " out there - you'll know as soon as you see it. I used to ask for extensive email closeups before setting off to view - and ask for the v5 number so I could check on the dvla website to check mot history ( and advisories ) - if the seller didn't want to do this then I didn't bother to even view.

Good luck in your quest.

Thanks gov, yeah was a bit confused too why the dealer immediatly told me the last owner was a lawyer, until I sat inside. Looked like the perfect combo with the right body colour and perfect interior. But viewing in person it was a proper let down.

Off to see another one tomorrow, hopefully this will be slighly better looked after. Otherwise I will have to consider travelling further away for the right one as there aren't alot of here in Central Scotland (for the obvious reasons)

Going to try haggle some money off for the silver z4, hopefully enough to fix the stonechips and boot.

Can anyone tell me whether or not its normal for the gearbox to be a bit stiff if sat for a while?

Is this the 3.0l from the Aston Martin Dealer you mentioned earlier in your thread? I wouldn't have thought the gearbox would be stiff. Has it not been used regularly? In what way is movement feeling restricted?

One that Swiftly posted up, when I turned up I was able to open the car, etc but failed to start, needed a boost. Owner said its been sitting for a while.
Compared it to the coupe a test drove before which felt smooth and direct.

Maybe it just needed a good run in to distribute the oil again?

Hm, I'm not sure that it sounds good that it wouldn't start first time. I remember when I was looking and test drove one at Coopers Stealership in Reading. Get this, the gear knob fell off and flew out of my hand when I tried changing into second gear!! I don't think I've test driven that many cars from dealerships (that was prob the first in ages) but let's say that was the first time it happened to me! :poke: It literally FLEW OFF and went flying behind !! It is quite irritating how little some dealerships or a garage prepares a car for sale. The rest of the car was filthy, (interior especially) though the salesman did say that it had just come in as part exchange.

Have you been looking long? Are there really not many other Zeds (Roadsters) that are available in your neck of the woods in Scotland?

Owner said it's been sitting a while? Do you know roughly how long for? I don't think it's good if a car has been left stationary for a prolonged period of time. Did you have a chance to look at the last MOT and the number of miles since? (Not that this indicates the frequency of being driven but some info for a puzzle as a buyer). Obviously a second hand car will have its faults / niggles so I'm not trying to be bossy but just some questions. I understand you need to move quickly if you want to get something, so hope this helps.

Been looking for a good 2 months now, always looking on ebay/autotrader and pistonheads, but there seems to be more 2ltr and 2.2ltr than the more desirable 2.5 and 3ltr. Just the odd scrubby arnold clark one or a suspiciously old looking ad for a 2.5 with the aero kit thats doesn't seem to be budging.

Couldn't tell you im afraid, probably worth asking next time I go down, I did ask to see the service book, but it was just a load of receipts, mots user manual and brochures, which added more suspicion.

It's an actual body shop aswell (noticed an old jag being restored) so il see if you could pop it up on their lift and have a nosey underneath.

Gave up with the idea of the z a couple of times and looked into a 350z, 130i m and VW R32. But eventually found my way back after looking into the long term finance on them.

I do like the 350Zs! Finance options - have you considered a personal loan? The interest on them is low at the moment e.g. HSBC or Sainsbury's; might work out cheaper than a garage finance option?

As do I, friend is selling his for 9k, low milage, full respray etc....but personally buying that would be very very bad for my mod bug. Need to escape from the jap scene.

Heated seats everytime if you want to maximise your hood down time!

I don't have heated seats and my arse never gets cold with the hood down whatever the weather. The top of my head, the end of my nose and sometimes my hands if it's really cold, but my arse? Never! :o

Looks amazing for the money, though im better getting a dealer that will take my car in px
