WANTED: 2.0 or 3.0 (Was a lurker, now a looker in Hampshire)

So I've been lurking for a while to gather info on what I'm looking for, and what to check out when I'm buying and the time has come for this!

I'm looking for my first Z4, my most recent cars having been a mk3 MR2 and an S2000, and I'm looking for either a 2.0 or a 3.0. In my opinion they are the best options (don't hate me.... I did say in my opinion!) as the 2.0 gives fantastic mpg (I drive about 22k miles a year) and the 3.0 gives pretty good mpg with great performance. Other engine sizes don't seem to give the same balance of theses two things.

Having driven both, I love the handling of the 2.0, but the sound and power delivery of the 3.0 is luuuurvly!

I'm looking for no more than 65k on the clock, and my budget is £7,250 for a 2.0 or £6,250 for a 3.0.

Ideally I'd like cruise control and heated seats, but this isn't critical, and ideally I don't want to have to travel for more than an hour to get it. (Fussy bugger I know)

So anyway, that's what I'm after, and if I can get one from a member, all the better (I've found in the past that they have been better looked after than one from the man on the street).

Cheers all

Jimi

If the roof is up, that storm had better have a name!

Hi,

I live near Southampton and have a 3.0i SE, black, heated red leather, cruise control, sat nav, FSH, xenons as well as some other extras.

The car has 75k and drives really well. The great thing is that it has just had a new roof motor installed.

It is my second of these, I bought it recently off a forum member but may sell as I have been offered a Z4M!

Good luck but I really would go for a 3.0 over anything else; there is no place for a 4 cylinder engine in a Z4!

Dan

If I had a shorter commute the it would be the 3.0 every time, but the accountant in me can't ignore the mpg of the 2.0! :-(

Hey,
Good decision on the 2.0i for fuel economy. I've had tank averages in mine upto 50mpg but mostly 45mpg, I once did do a 250 mile motorway journey at 65 and the computer claimed 57mpg which did make me feel a little smug as my dad doesn't even get that in his diesel mondeo :D . Cracking little motor, shame I have to sell mine really but I'm sure I'll be back to the Z4 in the future.
If you decide you don't mind travelling a little further, raising your price a bit and ignoring the lack of cruise control then perhaps you would consider buying my low mileage Z4. I will be listing it in a couple of weeks, once its been in for inspection I and had a full valet.

Good luck with your search

The 3litre zeds can be very economical with the facelift si models seemingly even better than the earlier cars, my mpg driving from Chelmsford to Hereford recently
