Hi there

First all just wanted to say what a great forum/resource this is! I have spent the last few months looking for a Boxster after selling my 118d and came very close to buying one the other week but decided against it due to the fact I would constantly worry about the engine imploding. I then saw a nice Z4 on the road and ever since have been looking for one. Ideally, I am after a 2.0 as I do circa 15k a year, and would really like the sports seats. I normally buy privately, but have seen a 2007 2.0 m sport, 44k in black (my favourite colour) from a dealer for £8450 which I think is a bit strong (have emailed to see what they could do), but if anybody is thinking of selling please get in touch.

Thanks

Tim

Hi and welcome to the forum Tim

Where abouts in the country are you?

Hello and welcome have you thought about getting a 6 pot ? At that sort of money 2.5 are well worth looking at . Be careful if you test drive one you will fall in love with the big sixes

Hi I purchased earlier this year and tried the 2.0 and the 2.5 si so enjoyed the 2.5 so plumped for that I was quite lucky and picked up a 1 owner 2008 2.5 is high mileage but full service for £7,500. Over the past 2 months I am averaging 32 mpg which I think is brilliant

Many thanks for the warm welcome :)

Because I do a fairly high mileage I decided that a 2.0 might be a better bet but would love a 6 cylinder - would be grateful for some real world MPG figures so I can compare though.

I sold my 2010 118d to a BMW dealer three months ago and was using the OH's Mini (it normally sits at the train station all day) but I really need my own car again - the BMW garage hadn't managed to sell my car and offered it back to me for roughly the same price so I was tempted but after comparing my running costs in my "man maths" excel spreadsheet, I figured a Z4 would be more fun and roughly the same cost to run (when you factor in depreciation). I also like tinkering and servicing my own cars and there wasn't much opportunity with the 118d.

Welcome tim0409, good to see someone interested in finding out more pre-purchase. Fyi, on my previous 2.5l 2004 Roadster, I averaged 34mpg during spring / summer months with combined driving. Yes, I might drive like Miss Daisy sometimes according to a certain fellow Forumer :poke: , but just info for you as a prospective owner. I agree black can look awesome, but do you know tis hard to keep 'looking' clean, in comparison to say silver? :)
This talk about Zeds and seeing new members join / people interested in getting one makes me want one again! :x :)

I had a 2.0 for about 9 months and was averaging day to day around 36-37. This was a combination of cruising to work and back, with the occasional blast for a bit of fun.

Just upgraded to a 2.5si and on a long trip managed to get around 36-37, but now back to day to day driving its look alot more like the low 30s realistically I'd say..

FYI as far as MPG goes the 2.0i should be doing at least 40MPG when driven in the correct manner.

As above I got a 2.0 for similar reasons as you needed the mpg for money elsewhere
I am averaging 38daily and I I drive like a hoon 35
@nd motorway running I am seeing high 40s
Love the car so smitten with it.. I got a 07 full black 80k 2years warranted 6500..
