Want to a new Z4 Owner

Hi all,
I currently have a 03 318Ci so this in my opinion is a big step up to a Z4.

I miss the power of my last car Subaru Impreza and thats why I am plumbing for this model, however,which one to plumb for?
I have narrowed it down to a 2.5 or 3.0 would prefer a manual but open to the automatic or the SMG option.

I have seen an 03 3.0 SMG version 38K on the clock and they would take mine in part ex as well so good news all round but I am trying to get opinions on this SMG option. My indy says they are good if serviced well an looked after, this car has been stamped twice by BMW, once by a 'garage' and will be serviced by the garage I would be purchasing from (not BMW).

Should I take a look or avoid? What would I need to look out for? Your help would be much appreciated. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

not sure about SMG but the auto as flappy paddles and is very good, go for the 3.0ltr for definate, you will always regret it if you don't
 
Hi and welcome to the Forum. Not sure about the auto/SMG options as I have never owned but agree with Taz about the 3l. Check list in my signature which may assist when you look at a pre owned. Good luck.
 
Went to look at an 03 today seemed ok 2.5 sport auto box, alignment didn't look quite right on the bonnet though slightly wider on one side than the other but drove well.
Other oints was a orange light (warning) which he said was due to airbag because the seat had been in one position for a while and moving the seat had disturbed somthing.....ye right and then there was the paperwork, PDI and one service at Park Lane BMW at 12773 on the 19/10/05. Has not been serviced since, in his words the previous lady owner did not want to waste money having it serviced because the indicater says its due in 5K, It has 21366 on clock so in other words same oil in the car for the last 6 years :o :o :o :o :o

Please tell me I was right to walk/run like the clappers away

Welcome to the forum :D I definitely think you did the right thing. If you have any doubts follow your gut and wait for the right car. It took me Nearly 3 months to find the right one when I purchased my Z4 and I have now been looking for a month for it's replacement (a Z4M). You'll definitely be glad you waited when you finally get the right one.

Also if budget allows it has to be the 3.0.

Unfortunately I have no experience of the auto/SMG so can't help on this one...
