Wales Meet 12/04/15 - South East Hooners Thread (04/04)

I'm happy to use either Waze or Zello or both.

With Zello, has anyone tried if it works through the Z's bluetooth (without media pack, i.e. over phone protocol)

Waze would work for those who use it. Just have to add everyone else and share the drives.

Also good for those meeting at petrol stations as can track where everyone is on their journey to the meeting points. Albeit the map location display isn't real time and normally has a slight delay on it.

Very good app though

I spam Bing on it with horn beeps whenever possible...

I don't have notifications turned on... Guess I should

It's no good for planning routes though, it will only do the fastest / shortest etc.

The app looks cool, but it uses wifi/3G etc. and will kill my data allowance really quickly (I assume ?) :(

I'm on Waze, it's great (easy to learn too as I'm not generally good at that stuff but figured this out on my own - kind of)

You might stay within range of my in-car 4G wlan AP so I could let you leech some bandwidth

Is there a return plan by the way or is it every man/woman for him / her self?

I haven't planned anything on the return on Sunday. Happy to travel as a pack and stop for a break somewhere on the way, but I will need to get back at a decent time.

Waze doesn't use much data, don't think more than 20mb for that trip. But you cant do custom routes or waypoints. Only best/fastest. One nice feature are the speed cam warnings although I personally use the GPS pocketworld database with an app called cameralert. Works on any iPhone and android and first download of current database is free. Thus recommend the leader gets this...

Anyone behind me, I will be slowing down for cameras it warns me off but those in front will be out of luck!

Don't worry Billy, I have a speed camera detector with an up-to-date database

I'll also have Waze turned on, and a TomTom with the route. Hopefully I'll have enough attention left for driving...

Looks like a very large turnout for this....got to be one of the biggest meets/numbers wise/ the forum has had. So many people going that I would love to catchup with...oh well, bring on the Evo triangle etc. instead :D :driving:

I know, but the list was full a wee while ago, so me and John are having a wee get-together in North Wales with one or 2 others, as the list was capped, otherwise we would have been along to this, Allan.

Have fun, and look forward to seeing the pics :D and hopefully catch you(and others) at a meet soon, Bing :driving:

Lunch at the Coach & Horses is booked for us on Saturday - they've asked that we try to turn up closer to 12 than 12.30 though (which was my original booking time), as they have a lot of 12.30 bookings. Also means we will be split up on different tables. We should be good with 12.00 as long as we leave Beaconsfield by 10.30.

Oh, and they have asked if we can use their overflow car park, which is the beer garden - it's nice and dry ground, safe for the cars... And I suspect he wants a photo as he knows we're a car club and was specific about us lining them up at the bottom :D

Not spoken to the Millingbrook about dinner yet - I think Perry is on that. He's also doing a map of nearby Shell stations on the route. What a proper gent

Yes, I've spoken to them and they said they can get quite busy on a Saturday evening, so to ensure we have a table I've made a provisional booking with them for 9 people for 8pm

I stress that this is a provisional booking so if anyone wants to eat at a different time or doesn't want to eat together I can contact them and change the details

I'll send this by PM too so that everyone is aware
