waiting on the dvla

alright guys, just wondering how long people have waited to recive their v5 docs through the post
bought my z4 on the 9th of september and still havent heard a thing, also needed a plate transfer like as the guy liked his plate! but with tax due soon im getting quite desperate.

I got mine within 2 weeks, then waited another two when I changed my plates....
 
When I brought my Z4 I used the tear off slip I was given by the seller to change the plate to my personal plate.
This was accepted by the local DVLA office without a problem.
 
Took 3 weeks to get mine recently, but if I were you I'd o with Darren's advice and give them a call

i bought my zed 7 weeks ago and the v5 turned up last week so i was a little worried but id assumed the trader was lazy at the admin and never posted it in a rush, i also sold my last car the same day and called the seller and his turned up within 2 weeks but I posted the slip the next day..


Ive been waiting for my plate change too
 
Sold/bought on the 5th of October, dealer handled the reg transfer, got the transfer paperwork last Thursday and the V5 on Friday, so just over two weeks for both.
 
From what I can remember it took a good 4 weeks to get mine. It might not have been the DVLA's fault. Sometimes the post is really slow where I am for some reason.

Good luck calling them, chrisj900. I have spent a lot of time on hold waiting to speak to our friends in Swansea :thumbsdown:
 
gave them a call, they said i have to fill out a V62 form and sent my green slip in with it

when i mentioned my tax was due in 4 weeks he had no idea what to do (who trains these guys). guess this means i need to get my tax renewed before i send it off if they let me :(
 
so filled in a v62 and sent it special delivery, hoping it doesnt take longer than four weeks as my tax is due next month :-?

just thinking what will happen with the cherished plates on my car, the guy i bought it from wanted to keep them but if he hasnt gone about holding them do i get them now that ive sent the v62 off????
 
Bought a Golf 5 weeks ago & still waiting - they sent a letter saying they're processing it though..
 
Both the original document and replacement one, after I changed the number plate to a personal one, took about 2 weeks to arrive recently.

I suspect that if it takes any longer then, perhaps, the private seller/dealer have been dragging their heels in notifying the DVLA in a change of ownership. :wink:
 
got a call from the seller, he has no clue what hes doing. he sold me the car without taking off his plates.. so he hasnt sent off for change of ownership because the dvla wont let him retain the plates without thhe log book, pretty sure he hasnt read the v317 form as for me to give him his plates i need the full log book. i told him when i bought the car that if he sends me the cheque il transfer the plates back to him, hope he gets a fine now that ive sent of a v62
