Wait a moment - sat nav problem

Quite often now I am getting a message on the Sat Nav screen saying 'Wait a Moment'. But it just hangs there. Not sure if it's the disk itself (a 2012 copy disk) or the unit itself. It's intermittent, and happens about 50% of the time, sometimes whilst driving, sometimes when I start up. Any ideas?

Have you got the original disk to try and see if that fixes the issue? Then you'd know for sure if it was the disk.

I have that issue sometimes, as I made my own copy of 2012 map disk and sometimes doesn't boot up right away. Debating on whether to buy a copied one or not as there are mixed reports about those too

Mine did that three times in two years (original BMW 2010 DVD). What helped was to remove and to reinsert the DVD.

However: Please turn off contact 4 minutes before removing the DVD or else you`ll be stuck with "Waiting/ Loading" for a long time before it resets itself.

As said, try a genuine DVD and I expect all your problems will go away.

My drive wouldn't read copied DVDs (but did read firmware CDs just fine) so I replaced the laser pickup inside the DVD drive itself.

I paid £25 for the part (Sanyo) and it took around an hour to get the drive out of car, install the laser, reinstall in car.

Now works perfectly.
