Hi everyone!

Pick up my Z4 tommorow, cant wait! It a 2004 3.0i SE, Titanium silver with Elipsoids. And weird spoiler on the back... 8) Got a 10 hour round trip drive to go an get it but

Looking forward to see how much it can live up to my, now sold, VX220 2.2 for driving pleasure! The vx was a weekend toy but needed an everyday car with the looks and pace of the vx so the z4 fits the bill!

Will get some pics up as soon as! Probabally have loads of question aswell!

Chris

I think everyone is moving from a VX220 to a Z4! There's a few others on here...

Welcome!

10-hr trip is nothing  - my Z4 was "only" a 7-hr round trip, but my previous car was a 900-mile round trip (around 15-hrs). Always worth it for the right car though!

My Z4 was a 40min round trip hehe.

Sounds like a similar spec to mine... can't wait to get my 107's refurbed and on as I rekon they will look fantastic with titanium silver!

I looked at the VX's before I bought too, but the Z4 just makes so much sense 'all round'

Having puddles of ice in the corners of the footwell in winter just didn't appeal to me :D

Welcome to the board

As said I think everyone is moving from the VX to Z4.

I think my buddy wins the 'collect a car' challenge for Europe. He went to Northern Sweden to recover a genuine 1945 'barn' Jeep. Bit of tinkering to ensure it was roadworthy and drove it all the way back to the UK. Total trip took him a week and the Jeep never broke down

Welcome. Nice to see people dumping Vauxhall.

LOL i had an Astra VXR Nurburgring till 6 weeks ago as well.

Normal Vauxhall are boring. Only fews are better, i.e. VX220, VXR range. Why did you not buy a VW Golf R32?

Cus it is a hot hatch and i wanted to get something different, had hot hatches for the past 13yrs!
I'd also get a turboed hot hatch as a remap transforms performance, i have no interest in the R32 though a friend of mine has a mk1 R32 (has had it since it was only a few months old) and is supercharging it in the next month or 2...just weighing up the options though he may have pressed the buy button by now.

I mean why you bought VXR but not a R32. R32 has better interior and feel more solid than VXR.

As i said, turbo vs NA and the fact i was getting the VXR cheap.....cost me £2k + my 1yr old white Focus ST2 with 8k on clock and no extras to swap to a brand new VXR Nurburgring (OTR £21k), when i sold the VXR after 8 months compared to if i'd of kept the ST (which i would of done otherwise) i made over a grand compared to what ST2's on 07 plates were/are going for.

I was driving a VX220 5 years ago, DK02XVR in the lovely blue colour. Totally wonderful car, infact, 2nd only to my Zed, although on a nice day if i had the two parked in my garage right now, i'd struggle to decide on which one to take out? (i own a Coupe).

I was also a member of 'vx220.org'

The Z4 makes so much sense cuz you can get 6 24 packs of lager in the boot and maybe 3 in the front if you wanted, 6 in the back handling wise is intesting on my already skinny tires lool

Thanks for the replies guys!

Had the car 24 hours now and am liking it! Bought it as an everyday car so the comprimise of comfort/looks/driving pleasure is all there!

Doesnt match the vx220 for driving pleasure or how the vx220 turned every drive into an occasion, but i knew it wouldnt. But as an everyday car i dont think i can ask for more! Averaged 38 MPG on the trip back, thats with getting silly on some occasions, but mostly cruising at 70mph!

Seem to have a high pitch squeaking on the back drivers side if i bounce the car. Doesnt happen all the time however, im presuming its broken springs (ive budgeted for these anyhow), will cop a feel of them when i whip the alloys off to clean them.

Pics will follow!

Excellent method of measuring bootspace

Means so much more to me than saying "250 litres of boot space"...

Try reproducing it with the handbrake off mate. If it isnt reproducable its a TADTS (You should know this acronym having owned a VX  ) Mine does the same with the handbrake on :)
