VW Scirocco

Mmmm, I'm beginning to like this car a lot, not bad value in the UK either. I could see myself in one of these. Went to look at one today and there must be an embargo until 1st September, I think the car was there but stored through the back and they definitely weren't letting me see it anyway, gits.

Might be just me but it has Alfa looks (rear quarter in particular), combine that with VW quality and they may well bo onto a winner

Not a big fan of VW’s but this I like
Don’t think it will be kids pointing out of the back window going “Wow look at that” sort of car.

This is not coming to the US.
Wonder why not, you get the Golf GTi don't you?

A Honda Civic fourth generation with a VW on it, cool! :o
Correct, it is very similar to that Civic, I always thought they looked 10-15 years ahead of their time, this proves it :D

I like it too :) Also getting some pretty good write ups over here
In EVO this month they do a road test, and comparing it to some other cars, it's well on the pace with the Golf GTi, Megane R26, Focus ST, Fastra VXR, etc.

No but relative anonymity can be a good thing sometimes. Kids look out at me now and say "wow mummy look at that flash pr*ck in that Mercedes, what a tosser..."

Yep they will be keeping the Golf, and IIRC they are selling more and more 5 door Golfs than ever. So maybe the 3 door Golf will be a niche, and they'll keep pushing the Scirocco instead. Interesting, the new Golf will also come with the S3 engine, and there is some info kicking around about a Scirocco R with 265ps and 4wd, now that would be nice.

Went and saw one of these today, very impressed with the looks. Was a blue one like the top pic on this thread, with black leather interior and touchscreen audio. Nice review here and these are some pics from that thread, I like it...

Yep, an R with 265ps and 4wd would be a great car if it undercut the S3 by a few grand, say around £24k.

Interesting ... VW certainly does not have a reputation for quality in these parts. In fact, VW typically falls far short of quality and reliability marks as compared to the rice burners they are positioned to compete with in the US market.

ay8306, that's interesting. TBH I don't think that VW have a great reputation for reliability here either (but not bad either), but they do use quality parts and materials. I remember reading something ten or more years ago, where VW bosses identified that spending £100 more on a car would enable them to sell it for £1000+ more, due to perceived quality.

Nothing with their reliability that would stop me buying one though.

A guy parked a new white Scirocco next to my Z4 Sat. He showed me round it. Nice looking car inside and out! My missus wants one now!

It was the 2.0l top of the range model and he said he got 40mpg in it on a run the other week!!

Last week I order a white one with sunroof and alcadara interior (as 2nd car for my wife, after selling the MINI Cooper we had).
Waiting list is for 4 months!!!

The test drive was a pleasure. exceptional handling and acceleration.
