There seem to be a few of us following the last flying days of XH558. Well having not seen a Vulcan in the air since I sat on top of the Rock of Gibraltar one gorgeous sunny day in 1983, watching a whole squadron practice touch and goes, I wasn't quite sure what to expect.

Mrs G and I made a week end of it, visiting Blenheim Palace on Friday.

Then a day in Stratford on Avon on Saturday, doing our bit for the Bard Will Shakespeare's Trust.

Some careful Zed Parking at An Hathaway's house.

Then finally on Sunday after bit of a trek through a few fields, we found what turned out to be a great spot for a free Air show.

and a little Video, If I find out how to edit them I'll post up a few more later. :)

Need not of worried, the thing is just Awesome. Never got that close and personal in 1983.. 8) :D

Great pics. I was driving home from Lincolnshire Sunday afternoon and as I was driving down towards Peterborough the Vulcan flew overhead. As I had roof down managed to hear the glorious sound.

Wonderful aircraft & some pretty impressive pictures there, I shall be sad if this really is the last year of flying displays for it.

Thanks for sharing the pictures!
This airplane is such an impressive beast, I find it extraordinary that some people managed to maintain it in flying condition, up to now...alas...

Nice Pics Buzy..
If only you could have got the Zed in the foreground and the Vulcan overhead, you would have had this months winning picture.... :poke:

Darn it probably could have if I'd thought about it. Would have been about a km further away though. I'll settle for where we walked to. :D

Now where's my copy of PhotoShop.

Where is it? It seems well camouflaged against the bright blue sky

Fantastic pics.

Cheers Ben :D

I said that to Mrs G. I don't remember them being that colour in Active service. It was long time ago though. :?

It was also at Elvington (York) last weekend, doing low passes over the Aston Martin Vulcan, which they had parked on the runway. Amazing.

Yes sadly this is the last year it will be flying I managed to see it at Swansea air show this summer,it came around the bay what looked very slowly and almost silent as if in slow motion,it was quite eerie.

Great pics there

IIRC they were a grey-blue colour underneath when in service? Need to dig out some old photos....

Edit: they were white underneath in service:

Cheers Mark. Thought they were white underneath. The Alzheimer's hasn't finished me off yet.

For those who want ONE last chance to see this beauty it's doing the FINAL run on Saturday setting off from Doncaster at 1pm and doing a Fly Past at East Fortune Air Show on Saturday. So it will be over norther England and southern Scotland on Saturday afternoon.

Turns out that my Brother in Law works with the Pilot of this beauty and has a copy of the flight plan so I'm going to have a gander and make sure I'm somewhere for some cracking shots. Got a few ideas for shots in mind. Hopefully it will be a lovely weekend

The flight plan is on the Vulcan website.

Virtually flying over my house on Sunday so won't have to go far to see it :D

Good to know

I've just been sent what I can only describe as a ordnance survey map with the details so now my original idea looks the best bet for me.

It was only supposed to be going as far as Newcastle. So it will be great to see it go over my Parents house

There is also a tracking app for android/ios, but it cost £3.99 (proceeds to the trust). Or just follow them on twitter.

Hmmmm that could be worth it.

I've grown up looking every weekend at a tornado and a Vulcan that were in the Falklands and that's where my love of aircraft began.

So £3.99 to charity isn't a huge price considering the years of enjoyment the plane has given me.
