Get to work Minions!! (I realized after this photo its bad to use sponges after a bit of research) :D

Ha, great picture! I'm looking forward to having kids who will wash my Z! Oh no scrub that, if I have kids then I won't have a Z, oh no catch 22! I bet they're better than the £5 car washes, payment in Haribo?!

Ah yes, I do love the Sepang Bronze, but fear I am too impatient to hang around long enough for one to become available.

And Steven, they only did the Sepang on the M variant, not the 3.0si or lower. So looks like you'll have to buy an M!!

LOL, I kept going on about it for so long the wife gave in! :driving: I've just heard its costs 222k per child to raise them until they're 21. What kind of car could I have got for 666k if I just went to sex education :headbang: ... at least they will look after me when I'm old and dying... no wait.. those family values are lost forever

Put on the Vreds today and finally ditched the runflats! Handling is exceptionally better BUT.. I swear I'm hearing a consistent very faint new knocking noise or vibration linked to the speed of tyre rotation. I have no idea if its new tyre noise or an underlying problem i've always had but masked by the previously noisy runflats. Suggestions ?

Cant tell if the noise is coming from the front or the back. It could of been my wheelnut tool kit next to the battery knocking about or the fact the tyre sticker you can see on the left of the picture is still partially on the tyre. Cant pull the thing off as its falling to pieces.

Ditched my run flats today.

Loads of aggro getting my regular falken tyres fitted however!

Few garages said they would need to confirm with my insurance company about changing them and others said they were worried about scratching the alloys.

Finally found a garage and must say I have some comfort back, no more LOUD bangs when going over bumps, the tyres actually absorb some of the impact!

Yeah, The guy that fitted mine said it was a pain in the ass to replace and it looks like he has scratched one of my alloys (not that I can prove it) despite all the grease he applied round the wheels :(

Still, I think the banging was caused by my tool kit in the back :D Overall the handling is better but it does feel a little twitchy, like I'm fighting my car on ice on the outside lane. Whereas before tramlining was obviously in the inside lane. Maybe the coating on the tyre needs to rub off for a few miles?

You should gain some control over the rear if anything with the standard tyre as there's no give in the RFs.

My Runflats were Bridgestone Potenza, definitely got my £250 (per corner) worth they were BALD.

With my car being lowered and all bushes being upgraded to Poly I'm still getting a little tramlining but it's definitely improved all round.... im happy.

Maybe its placebo effect and your just pushing the car harder lol? I think we all do after getting new tyres! otherwise could be the grease, when I get my car cleaned
by the local turks they coat the stuff on the tyres to make them shine and my car fishtails for a good 10 minutes after lol.

I'd do at least 100 miles to get the mould release agent out of the tyres before assessing them properly. Although Yoko AD08s are even worse: it's difficult to pick them up when they're new as they're *so* slippery.

I'd say if the problems you've described are still present after 100 miles or so, get down to a proper geo alignment place and get the tracking, wheel balancing etc sorted nicely. Might cost £70 but well worth it if your Z then handles like a dream :)

Cheers guys, will do

My tyre place told me the Vreds are a very "square" tyre (in cross section obviously, otherwise the ride would be ludicrously bumpy if they were actually square tyres) so will tramline a bit more than more rounded tyres.

Of course you could do some serious hoonage and wear the corners off :)

Right.. Done over 50 miles and i'm definitely fighting with the steering wheel the moment I go over 50 and I'm getting a lot more road noise/vibration resonating in the cabin at 70mph compared to the runflats. Feels like a wheel is going to fall off.

Time to get the alignment/balancing checked out. Can anyone recommend a good place in the Southampton area? I normally goto micheldever tyres.

In other news, I sat in a new M3 E92 today... hmmmmmm :D

I would check that your wheel nuts are not lose if it's that bad, have seen this a few times after changing wheels/tyres.

I was about to say, have they done your wheels up properly??

Where abouts are you in the world?

I've had same problem on a previous car:

Check the wheel bolts.... That much costs nothing!

I'd then go back to the tyre fitter and get them to check balancing....

At this very moment? Dublin :D But Live in Southampton.

I'll check the bolts tomorrow and then get to micheldever tyres once I confirm the wheels wont fall off en-route :headbang:

So went to micheldever tyres and they know there stuff, been using them for years. Bottom line, they drove it and immediately knew its not wheel balance, Alignment etc and said we could charge you but it would be a complete waste of money so don't go there. Various Low tyre pressures on 3 of the wheels (1 down to 20 something) had a part to play and reduced the pulling left/right feeling by about 40% but its still twitchy and they honestly think its the design of Vreds themselves and suggested I find an alternative.

After 1hour of their help they said no charge and sorry we can't help (now that's service)

Bottom line.. Stick to your Falken 452/3 and Eagles AS2s and the like. Don't go for Vreds period. :fuelfire:

Pro's vs Runflat: Reduced road noise, and overall comfort on the roads, Amazing grip
Con's: You will tramline to a whole new twitchy level.

.

Don't a lot of the members here love their Vreds?

There must be a reason as to why yours don't feel right? That, or everybody else is lying
