Vredistein ultrac sessanta

Do they still make them? Have they been superseded?

The chap I bought my latest Z from needed to MOT it for sale, as it needed two rear tyres he didn’t want to spend too much and put on a pair of Sailwin sportway 56. I’m not a fan of cheap tyres so plan on changing them. I have Vreds on the front so was going to put the same on the rear but they don’t seam to be available anymore.

Think they were replaced by the Vorti. Also an excellent mid range tyre which I've run on my old coupe previously.

HAve had 3 sets of Sessantas on 2 different cars over here in NL and loved them. Grip, progressive traction-loss, longevity and low noise.

You can still find these at some lesser-known suppliers here in NL but they'll be new old stock and past their prime now.
Vorti's have proven a worthy successor even though they've lost the unique tread pattern of the Sessantas.

Despite having 'better' Michelins since, I do miss my Sessantas, a decent tyre

Ive used Sessantas on a few cars and can't argue with the decent tyre sentiment

Thanks for the replys folks. Now do I replace them before or after getting a wheel refurb? :-? :scratchhead:

Obviously after, if it’s a full paint strip and refurb?

I would say it depends on the condition of the tyres you’re intending to replace - if they are cheapo rubbish or getting thin, then change them now. It’ll be a whole lot cheaper than body repairs after pulling the car from the ditch!

I assume that you won’t be doing the wheel Refurbishment until springtime so dodgy tyres over winter are an added situation to avoid in my opinion.

Fair point.

Used vreds if various types on several cars over the years, and been impressed with all.
Good grip, low noise and long lasting,as said by others.
Had them in my current z only once ,as prefer Michelin on it,but used consistently on my last z,as well as 200bhp Tiguan,BMW 125 coupe, etc etc.
Always done well,mate.

Grip in wet especially as they start to wear is better than any others, including Michelin pilots, etc.
I just find the M/pilots are marginally better on the m in terms of dry grip and feedback.
But you pay for it,lol
