Vredestein Ultrac Sassanta

OK I'll be kind to him and say he made a guesstimate. You're on the 19's aren't you? I can't see your new tyres being that much softer on the inner sidewall than PS2's which run best in the low 30's IMO.

Yeah,it doesnt affect the use of the tpm's at all.just reset button in the car.

I am a big fan of the vrdstn range in general. used them as often as possible(when changing from oem tyres),and my fiance uses them in recent yrs too. have used qautracs, sportrac 2s/3's and ultracs,on everything from 2yr old cavalier turbos, seat leon cupras, etc, etc over the yrs/find them great in the wet or dry(slight more road noise than some other makes, but v worth it!).
i have just fitted the ultrac sessantas to my z4 3.0i roadster a month or so ago,bt from camskill/ftd by hi-q,strathclyde tyres for £40 all in,balanced and valved, etc!!
Turn in is far sharper, wet weather sharp cornering/at speed/inspires far more confidence, and sooo much more comfortable than the brdgstn runflats!!

oh yeah, have used pilot sports(on bravo 20v),and also vrdstns. the latter won hands down, and the vrdstn quatracs(all wthr)on my cavlr turbo did over 30k mls on the front,45k mls on the rear!!

Well I spoke to Vredestein and their recommendation is obviously to run pressures in line with BMW's recommendations but to run them at the Heavy Load, High Speed pressure recommendation.

Does anyone know what that is in bar or psi as I dont have the car with me today?

Cheers

Jay

I have Kumho ecsta's after debating over these and the Vredesteins last year, I paid under £400 for the tyres from Camskill at the time in 245/279 19" guise.

I have run an E46 M3 with conti's and PS2's. MC had conti's before the Kumho's and I do not think at the limit these are as good as the rest. Traction light blinks more than it used to I think.

May give the Ultratacs a go next time but have also heard rave reviews about Eagle F1's.

Sorry for bringing out the dead and resurrecting this little thread but I'm very interested in hearing what the pressure for Vreds should be on CSLs. JayD can you enlighten us? :)

The wheel size shouldnt make a difference, its more the Tyres load rating, vehicle weight and geo of the suspension that effect the ideal pressure. You must check the load index of the stock tyres and compare it against your Vreds.

If the load index is higher (indicated after the size - should be something like "92Y"), you can drop the pressure by the same amount. I.e. The 3.0i's runflats are 88Y and a Vred/FK452 are 92Y... This means you can drop the pressure by 4psi (which brings us to the stock //M pressure figures).

Id start with 31f/33r and go from there for personal taste, arent these the standard pressures for the M?

Thanks for the feedback all.

I've put them on at slightly higher pressures - 33/35 given feedback from others. First impressions is that aside from looking awesome the car now seems to ride the bumps much better! Eibach springs will be fixed on before the Castle Combe meet hopefully.

CSLs and Vredesteins looking good, will post a quick photo from the phone in the gallery before she gets a proper clean up!

Another bump just to say that after reading so many good things about them i also bought a set of Ultrac Sessantas in stock sizes. They should be delivered by Thursday according the http://www.reifendirekt.com/ people.

Actually now that i think about it... They're coming all the way from Germany... And no flights are taking place in mainland Europe because of that volcano thing. Well.. s**t. :headbang:

P ZERO NEROS R FOR ME THE DOGS HAD THEM ON MY TT (WHICH SCARED A FEW M3,S ) AWESOME TURNING AND ON A TRACK DID SPAR AND HAD ENOUGH FOR A 9 MTHS AFTER

After 5k on the Vreds i won't be replacing them. No where near as balanced as the Michelins. Grip is fine, it's the overall balance which is unsettling!

To make a fair judgement here I feel you need to be driving with the same tyres back and front chief.

From dirving your motor I personnally felt your balance issue was down to the geo set up. it is set up in a way that you seem to have very sharp turn in and more grip at the front and almost a feeling of extreme toe out at the rear making it feel uneasy almost like somthing I would expect on an Evo or Scoob.

Just my opinion.

ETA - toe out not in

Valid points. However i still don't think yours was a balanced as mine was prior to moving away from the Michelins. I've never had a car which reacts so badly to mixed rubber.

And at 19'in i wasn't prepared to shell out circa 1k for 4 new boots!

You could be right, I need to give them a go at some point I guess.

Unknown to me at that time I had 2 broken Springs :(

It's just the cost that is killing me!!! IN the Vreds deference i've still got over 6mm of tread left! WTF! I drive the car fairly hard! I'm going to have them for ever.

Struggling on the refurb front too! 300+ to get them done!! Crap! And i have to take them off the rims = another 100...NO!
