Have to say voice recognition is very good on the Audi. She will dial the number of whoever I tell her to, and change radio stations also with superb accuracy. On the odd occasion she doesn't understand, she says "Pardon" in a very cross sounding way.
Oh I just get 'please repeat' in a voice that says 'You're accent is crap and I can't understand you'... lol. I did laugh at the point I told her to F off and she said NO!
We don't bother with the built in. Debbie tried a few times to get the car to do phone number look up. Very risky when half of the numbers in her phone are in the Pacific time zone.
We had a similar experience with the semi-integrated Nuvi. Sometimes it worked if I sounded like a posh idiot. "Voice cohmaahhnd. Display Mahhhp."
With some tinkering, I was able to switch it to American English. That works, except that Garmin, being an American company knows that Americans never leave the US.
It is an accent thing. She doesn't like my cornish accent, but my mrs, who is well posh , has no problem getting understood. Education.....you get what you pay for my loverlies.
Actually, I'm voice trained as I used to do video work in my younger days, voice overs that sort of thing. Sure, I still have a little yorkshire that comes out now and then, but other than that my accent is fairly neutral, the car doesn't like that. However I have noticed, that if you adopt a southerners accent, with as you say a little education (read posh sounding) the car responds 'awfully' well.
