VMR 710's a few questions

Im sure this has been covered countless times, and I have done some searches but mostly posts I could find are a few years old.
So our 2.5SE is fitted with 108's that need a refurb, and one wheel has developed a squeak, which after changing the tyre and doing various other investigations I can only assume is down to a possible crack in the wheel. My other half whose car this is really wants a new set of wheels but as we don't want something too aftermarket looking we have settled on VMR 710's, so questions are,

  • if we go for 18 x 8.5 et35 and 18 x 9.5 et45 are these a straight bolt on, no body mods?
    Could we go for 19's the same width & et and still be a no mod fitting
    The only UK dealer I can seem to find is M style, anyone have any experience with them, or are there any other UK VMR dealers?

Any other advice would be most welcome.

There's several wheel and tyre experts on here but be worth chatting to 'Mr Wilks' or 'Dav the wheel nut' who between them know all there is to know about wheel/tyre sizes etc
 
For the 18's those will be fine so long as they're BMW fitment i.e. 120x5 and 72.5 bore. Those offsets will defo be fine, if you're going up to 19's I'm not so sure.

IMO it's better to just buy a decent set of alloys off the forum (provided no cracks, buckles or excessive curbing). They'll often come with some fairly decent rubber as well which will save you a few quid. Check out th buy and sell section. I think there are some 107's on there. Sometimes 224's and CSL reps come up too.

Pretty sure you will be fine with a 8.5 et 35 front on your Se car
Here's my 2.5Se (standard springs) with 18inch alloys which were et35 fronts & et 40 rears but 8j /9j iirc ?

The arch gap if your car is standard will take them its the 8.5 et 35 fronts that need careful choice of tyres to avoid the possible minor rub on full compression / turn
Size up to 19s again will work its more about the width / offset & tyre choice
 
You are playing with small margins when changing wheel and tyre sizes.
Having said that, I am running 19 x 8.5 et35 without issues on the front.
The important thing as Mr Wilks said is make sure you have the right tyre choice. I have 225/35/19s on the front without a problem but there are people who have gone slightly wider at 235/35/19s and suffer rubbing issues.
I don't see a problem with the rears.
 
Thanks All. Im sure we will go 19's but follow the advice and stick to 225 on the front. I will check out the for sales items, but her indoors has her heart set on a set of 710's in smoke chrome.
 
I put my run flat 225 fronts onto 224's without a problem but when I changed the bridgestones for Michelin pilot sports the same size on the same wheels I got rubbing....slightly different shape to the tyre made all the difference

Sometimes it can be the difference in running tyres with 3-4mm tread then switching to new on 8mm , the margin between rub & no rub can be just mm & even dare i say the size / weight of the driver :(

More likely to be the tyres. Michelin Pilot Sports are a squarer profile compared to a lot of tyres that seem to be more rounded these days like the F1. I've measured at least a centimetre of difference in tread on the road for the 'same size'.
