Time to bring these back :?

Tim.
Sadly I can remember them when they were last used. Born at the end of the War I remember looking longingly in sweet shop widows but my parents not having the necessary points to make a purchase. On one occasion I found myself in serious trouble for giving the weekend roasting joint the purchase of which had used up all the meat points for the week, to a starving stray dog. My parents were not amused.
Not amused at the time maybe, but probably very proud of you later after realising the deeper message of the type of person they had brought.up
I bet people were a lot healthier when those were in use, not so many fat knackers around as there are today.

Fred, what did you do in the war?

Which war?

Fred seems a mere youngster to me, so he obviously had no role in a World War seeing as I was born 14 years after the last one ended!

Just enjoy those poppies. 8)

Yes you’re right. I ‘m 75 now and still prefer dogs to most people,

Things are getting real, an ex-colleague died of the virus today, only in his 50's. It put my fretting over a holiday booking in to perspective.

I’m sorry to hear that - it’s a reality check that none of us want and a reminder that this is not just a news at ten thing.

Thanks Ronk you are right. A tragedy for his family and very sobering for the rest of us.

I’ve just seen the recent news and it seems us oldies (over70’s ) are to be self quarantined.
Things seem to be getting serious now.

That means less old biddies clogging up the road network for the next few months. Fantastic

On a serious note, it can't be very nice if you're in that age group. My grandparents 85/87 love having their independence and enjoy visiting their local Waitrose weekly to get their shopping. To have them sat indoors permanently will more than likely send them even more loopy than they already are.

Me too being in the over 70's club and nothing else to do at the moment except wonder!

Does anyone find it extremely strange that the largest nation apart from the USA has hardly any reported coronovirus cases. I'm not usually a suspicious bloke but after what happened in Salisbury a couple of years ago?? Would be a good way to ruin the economies of other world leaders and end up being the richest in what will be left of the remaining world :!: Stupid thoughts I know, I must be bored with all this crap going on

I can't really see what you can do under the circumstances, I know a few over 70s and their life is being active and being out and about especially if living on their own with no immediate family so just staying at home is a tough one to bare and they're saying potentially up to 4 months  . Having said that its your life at risk so maybe no choice.

Amazing to think a week ago all of this seemed far away in other countries now on our doorstep.

I work from home 2 days a week but I can see being asked to increase home working but I find it depressing as it is being on your own for extended periods :( Mental health is going to nosedive with alot of people.

Get a hobby for ___ sake. You got TV, internet, build a ship in a bottle... :)
I work and play at home. I game with friends online in the eves. I don't see limiting exposure a problem for us old guys.
Get a dog or a doll :fuelfire:

It's time for you lot to stop or you will start a war. :dizzy:

I'm an active healthy 72 year old and I find the prospect of being confined to home for several months deeply depressing

I hope that some recognition is made of any underlying health issues rather than judgement on age alone.

Baseball hat on back to front / sunglasses and some stick on acne spots and you’ll have freedom!
