Most Apple software on the PC is pants as they're writing for a system that isn't their's and thus they don't quite know how it works

It would be a crap excuse for a multi-billion dollar corporation who can easly invest in the correct resources to do it right :P It's probebly commercially motivated - why would they want to spend resources making flawless software for a O/S which isnt even there's lol.

But as you say, when it comes to rouge stuff, it's down to the user. I don't run any AV as I find it resource hogging and useless - the best protection is being careful. Alot of rouge things can go undetected by AV's as they just relay on detecting known "fingerprints" - making it quite pointless. You just need to be careful what sites you end up on / what you download. I'd also advise anyone using Internet Explorer to use Firefox, Chrome or Opera instead!

So on a Mac you can go to the iTunes store, find a song you really like and send a link of it to your friend who might like to buy it as well, just like you can with a pc and Amazon? And the music you buy is playable on any brand of MP3 player? Fantastic.

They're right, that really is clever :P

Bottom line is they've all got their faults, if you like one, you won't agree the other is better for the most part.

What gets me (but not a lot) is being told how much more clever it is. All IT is clever, that's what it is, technology. But what I want is it to be designed around me, who pays for it, and isn't particularly clever. And, (final rant here lol) when I get a problem, a discussion zone is not where I want to go with it

Anyone fancy a pint? I'm off for one

Apple designs stuff and sells it, other companies make cheap copies and then sell to the rest. Eventually some better copies come out and then the people who bought the non-apple stuff start whining and complaining about how bad the Apple stuff is. It happens all the time. Just think , if Apple didn't invent it first you wouldn't have a cheap copy to use now, now would you? Same goes for most of Microsoft's software. They are later copies of others ideas. ( I have heard "rumours" that the reason MS supports Office for Mac is to avoid a billion dollar suit from the designer/or co designer of MS Dos (S.Jobs perhaps) )

Maybe it's not true, maybe it is? It sure adds up though.
