How times have changed, drivers looked like rag dolls being thrown about by momentum and yes the fire was probably the most horrific

Coincidence - I just watched "Grand Prix - the killer years" on BBC4. Cant quite get my head around how poorly the sport was run in the 60's and 70's.

Things are definitely a lot safer for the drivers competing in motorsport now. There was a very enlightening documentary on TV earlier in the year which went through the safety developments in F1, which were mainly driven by the drivers themselves.
