Viewing a Z4 tomorrow - some advice?

they wouldn't let you take it out for a spin!!! muppet dealers, how did they know that you might not budge

still not a bad price though

stick with the 3.0, more power and more toys like electric seats

yip - does mean I could go for the one at Audi Ayr which is a better deal but I don't really want an auto. Will see what's available when I get back from holiday....

Out of curiosity if you offered £2k and it was just under what they wanted how far apart were you?

..and what idiots not taking you for a test drive a the end of which you could possibly have been swayed upwards a little

They didn't say and to be honest I didn't ask as that was my absolute limit - also because there seems to be more and more becoming available and if I wait a little longer (and it starts getting colder) they should start coming in to my price bracket.....anyway they have my phone number!

I just used my Audi TT (51-Reg,225BHP,50k,lots extra) to p/x present Z4 (54-Reg,2.2i,52k,Cash price: 10900 pounds)

For part ex, dealer only give 7700pounds for my TT (it was 9800pounds for sale on May this year), its the hightest price compare with 10 dealers, some one only offer me 6000pounds :(

For my Z4,2.2i,52k, its 10900 pounds ,its not cheap. I can buy a same condition one for 55-reg.

I have done this deal, because I am not a cash buyer.

have a good holiday ;-)

also with the auto, it takes it to the higher tax band too ;-(

Cheers. Didn't realise that, lower on fuel too which makes it a rather unattractive proposition..

I really don't get the 2.2 (no offense to anyone who has one and I hope you love your new car) but for practically all the same running & purchase costs (see example below) as a 2.5i or 3.0i but no where near the same performance, or is there something I'm missing?

Thanks for reminding me about tax on my 3.0i auto :x

The 2.2 never seems to have really caught on and as far as I can see was a shortlived offereing, no doubt squeezed out by the 4 cyl 2.0 introduction and no need for 3 x 6 cyls engines, below the ///M range

Book yourself in to test drive one at a BMW stealer. In fact test drive a few variationsif you can like engine sizes and auto/manual.

Don't tell them you're going to buy it straight away but need to test drive to decide if you want a Z4 or not.

Well just back from holiday and the first thing I did was go test drive a Z4 2.0i and an MX5 2.0i. I was more impressed with both of them than I thoought I'd be but I am craving more power! So I'm pretty much decided on the Z4 3.0i.

BMW gave me the keys to an 08 met blue M sport 2.0i and then said "just have it back in about 40 mins" - haven't had that much fun in a while! I actually felt the MX5 was more lively but both were pretty poor in mid range (50-70). The Z4 was streets ahead when it came to comfort and felt better put together (wind and road noise etc) although the sport seats of the M series were too tight for me so I sat in a 3.0i with "normal" seats which felt much better and the started it up too which sounded awesome!

next drive the 3.0i - had two or three people interested in the Volvo so I could be a Z4 owner very soon! :D

Ok really starting to get itchy feet, been looking at Z4's for around 3 months now to find one in my price range (depending on selling or trading my S40) but just can't get a 3.0i in my price range :headbang: .

The issue is there are loads of 2.2's just look at the one in the below link and a fair amount of 2.5's out there - should I even be considering these do you think? When I test drove the 2.0 at BMW the man said there wasn't much of a difference between the 2.5 and the 3.0 - I didn't believe him but is there enough of a difference that matters as I may have to resign myself to the fact that I can't afford a 3.0 and there for have to go for a 2.5? :(

Why don't you take a 2.2 and 2.5 for a drive and see what YOU think :?

Remember every one's requirements are different. Can't see that you would be that unsatisfied with the 2.5 TBH...

When I got my 2.5 roadster I was originally going to get a 2.2. Test drove a 2.2 and enjoyed the drive and was going to put a deposit on it. Then I thought I might just stretch to a 2.5 so held off,

Took the 2.5 out and loved it. Personally I noticed a significant difference between those 2 models. I loved my 2.5 altho it was only 5 speed and always felt as tho it needed 6

Yeh I suppose you are right, will do that next.

Would be interested to see opinions of people who have driven both the 2.5 and 3.0 versions? Will have a look for any posts on this....

3.0s are a lot cheaper than 6 months ago when I bought. What's your price range?

I'm trading a car in so it's difficult to tell but will be at a really awkward figure of around 10k - but obviously that would have to be from a garage unless I'm lucky enough to find someone privatley who wants an S40.
