Vibration when lifting off

Hi guys,

I've got an e85 3.0i and when I lift off the gas at any decent speed I get a really aggressive vibration basically through the entire car until the revs are really low. If I accelerate reasonably gently it goes away completely. However, if also occurs if I go into neutral at speeds and as I slow down in neutral the vibration gets less aggressive until I stop when it ceases. I've recently cut my backbox off and thought it could be causing it but as it occurs in neutral I'm not sure. I have a fault code
005D90 - (DSC) wheel speed sensor/valve relay
Just wondering if anyones experienced the same thing or has any ideas.

Cheers

It could be driveshaft CV joint, if you can get underneath have a look and see if there is any play anywhere from the gearbox to the wheels

Since you messed with the exhaust just check all the mountings for that and the heat shields that are close to the exhaust run are clearing the exhaust and are securely fixed to the car. An aggressive vibration may well be down to a rotational part gong bad with age and use as described by Chippie in addittion to the CV joints on the driveshafts also check out the centre propshaft joints at gearbox end and diff end for play which could produce an aggressive vibration, centre propshaft support if you have one also worth checking for play.

These are useful suggestions thanks guys. Might have been worth saying I was getting a clunk when I pressed or lifted off the accelerator in low gears so I think I trip to the garage is inevitable unfortunately. That'll be birthday money well spent. *edit* all the wheel bolts were loose/broken and my wheel nearly came off.
