Which are the better ones Vibratechnics v Powerflex engine mounts again road or track.

Opinions please

Not tried Powerflex but Vibra are tried and tested by many with positive views plus have them on mine and are good.
Wouldn't go track unless you are going for a full on track day car, pretty sure Byron has the track one's and the NVH is quite bad.

Usually get 20% off these from Demon Tweeks, keep an eye out for 20% voucher codes for Ebay that pop up quite often through the year. Demon Tweeks is almost always one of the selected sellers, as is Euro Car Parts Ebay store who sell most of the Powerflex bushes for the M.

Just don't get PF bushes (IMO) to replace number 18 on the diagram, should be ball joints here rather than a bush but having not tested it couldn't say what the adverse effects would be if any. Also I wouldn't do the diff bushings in case you were going to.

THB I think the powerflex ones are far nicer engineered, being adjustable in stiffness.
Vibra technics ones have been known to fail (see various posts on zpost, might be due to heat over there), and they seem to compress over time, but the powerflex ones haven't been long enough on the market to say anything meaningful about that. That said, polyurethane can't compress over time (it can still fail of course, but that has to be tearing or abraiding).

That said I believe the powerflex ones are more expensive. But they do offer lifetime warranty instead of the 1 year at VT.

If you are on a tight budget and your car has a track setup you could get the poly ones from strongflex, they are less than 1/3 the price of powerflex. But I suspect those to be quite stiff, being shore80a.

I’ve had VT Competition engine mounts on my Zed for several years (they make road or competition engine mounts). They contain engine movement far better than OEM and conduct only marginal amounts of nvh into the cabin. At idle, the interior mirror vibrates enough to blur the image of the vehicle behind, and it’s possible to feel the engine humming through the seat of your pants. Neither are intrusive, rather suggest something urgent is pent up and waiting to explode. Once moving, there’s no perceptible increase in nvh over OEM.

Vibratech mounts are 20% off on Ebay currently via a few sellers, bargain! BMW360M is the product code for the Z4M mounts.

What the long term resilience of both type of engine mounts is after, say 3 years and 20k miles, is what I'dlike to know. :poke:

Mine have been on my car since 2014 and have covered around 30k miles, half of which were track miles and most of the remainder hooning not commuting. I’ve seen no evidence of a problem so far...

Mine (road version) have also been on since 2014, and done about 60,000 miles since.

Last check of them about 5,000 miles ago was all good.

[ref]BMWZ4MC[/ref], [ref]mmm-five[/ref], thanks both for your comments. It's an upgrade I've been thinking about doing, but I've heard of cases of how quickly some of these engine mounts degrade.
