well the parts haul is growing every day at the moment :-)

These beauties cames in today.... i ordered the RACE and road mounts as i was told the race are alittle uncompromising for a road car... so well i have 2 sets of these, are vibratech really steer people away from the competition mounts, we struck a deal, i get a discount if i try the competition mounts and report to the world what they are like on a road car, which ever set i use, i will sell the other set for a huge discount in the spirit of the forum and good will!!!

My motor moves around alot due to the extra power, so im REALLY hoping the competition mounts dont turn the car into a vibrating mess.... if they do??? my road set are here and waiting :-)

These things are gorgeous!!! Even better they are now competely fail safe and can be rebuilt for 35 quid!!! nice!!!

The pic above isnt mine BTW, i'll take some pics of my mounts with are identical, the competition ones are slightly different when it comes to the mounting hardware and uses nylocks, but appearance wise they look identical!!

I read with some interest the thread on zpost....
But in Woots speak what do these do? Just reduce engine vibration??

Big job to fit?

reduced unwanted engine movement, make the drivetrain feel more connected and for me..... Make things feels tighter, specifically during wheel spin moments on warm dry tarmac, this really puts mounts under huge stress.... Tis will Cause MORE NVH. Not to sure on the fitment, looks okay-ISH, i think ill drop the subframe to fit them however, i had jacking the motor as it strains to many other items.

I really love the increased connection and feeling of solidity you get with uprated mounts though I'd imagine a full set of competition mounts will be too much for many. I ran a solid front mount in my last (fwd) car for a little while and the only drawback was a buzzing dash at idle, the sharper throttle response and improved gearshift however more than made up for it!

Will be interesting to see how you get on with these as I can imagine there will be quite a few cars out there with tired mounts by now.

yeah im REALLy hoping i can put up with the race mounts, but if not i have the road mounts just in case... which ever one i dont use ill sell on. Your right the feel the offer is just awesome!!

I had custom made 'hard' engine mounts in my barchetta, and it was fabulous, but the vibration and forces they transferred onto the chasis were so big, that in the end the chasis broke near the place where the mount is mounted to the chasis. It costed me almost a half price of a new barchetta to fix this mess and reinforce the chasis, but after those reinforcements were made, the ride feel was gorgeous!

So I would say that reinforced mounts are great but I would be cautious with hardcore race mounts!

dont worry the stock plates are Super beefy steel items, bolted on an upper and lower flat form, im not worried about where it mounts..... more my teeth.

these are in but... snows so bad i cant do much.... i did slide it around on the drive but..... snow + cup sport slicks = nooooooooo!!! lol
will update shortly!!!

ok C n P from zpost... also a note from the people asking about damagine the subframe mounts by being too stiff!!!

i had this discussion with VT today..... in short the competition mounts are not solid enough to cause failure of the mount points :-)

heres the info from the man himself....

Regarding stress cracking this is an interesting one. The stresses could come from two areas if the car is solid or near solid mounted.

1) A solid mounted engine will stiffen up the chassis by becoming a reinforcing member. This will increase the torsional stiffness of the car but by doing so you will potentially put massive forces into part of the car that are not designed to take it.

2) A solid or near solid mounted engine will transmit vibration from the engine to the chassis increasing local stresses in the mounting points. We measure vibration using the scale mm/s. This is an industry standard for vibration severity. An engine produces around 10mm/s at idle and up to around 20 to 30mm/s at high RPM. When we measure vibration we aim to get down to around 0.5 to 0.8mm/s in the cabin floor. Even our very stiffest mounts competition mounts would only give around 2 to 3mm/s in the cabin. To put this into perspective the threshold of human perception is around 0.4mm/s. In a building 10mm/s is enough to cause structural damage!. So if an engine were mounted solid there is enough vibration energy produced by the engine to put enormous stresses into the car structure.

So in summary there is not enough vibration transmitted by our mounts to significantly increase the stress in the subframe either by chassis flexing or vibration transmission.

I hope this helps.

Now..... i have to say these mounts are rather impressive..... im PLEASED i have the competition units in the car and im happy with them, i would say however you WILL notice an increased almost like low resonance vibration almost @ idle...

so in summary, these wont damage your mount points, they WILL increase idle NVH and so far from what i can tell the rest of the rev range theirs no real concern area Zub.... your car may be even smoother as mine has the imbalance of a whopping great s/c on one side, (it creates idle vibration)

The mounts are a work of art..... The road versions are more than enough for 99% of the needs, for me i wanted as much motor movement control as im getting certain parts brushing the hood under the extremes of use.... Im almost certain that movement will be stopped with these mounts.....
i Cant wait to get to the track with these on!!!! BTW they are lighter than the stock mount according to my scales..... i opened up one of the mounts also and their rubber piece is much more significant that you think from what you can see.... so i understand how the comp ones wont be causing stress issues...... they are simply not solid enough and can be slightly depressed with you finger even..... the fast road version can be squeezed pretty easily.... the stock ones feel like jelly compared to both!! my stock mounts had 11k miles and its pretty obvious the ast few ks worth of s/c power and track-time has really weakened them.......

if you can chance to open one up they are a very nice design inside, their is no way they can completely come apart!!

VT you killed it with these mounts!!!! phil has been a pleasure to deal with from the off.

ive been getting alot of PMs about the Fast roas spare set i have. The already have a name on them guys...

The Fast road versons are getting some incredible reviews...... love the fact these ca be rebuilt for 30 quid a time!!! awesome!!!

Nice to see they actually apply a bit of science and development to their mounts and don't just up the shore rating and hope for the best-I think I see a future purchase on the horizon already  :headbang:

They've also been good to me with some mounts I bought years ago but never got round to fitting. I had a problem with one of the threads so sent it back for checking/repairing and not only did they do the work FOC, but they also updated the mount to the latest spec and didn't even mutter a word about the years that had passed since purchase.

Granted, there probably shouldn't have been an issue in the first place but it's good to know that should something go wrong (and s**t does have a tendency of happening), they're happy to do the right thing without putting up a fight.

Agree'd awesome people and sooo happy with the mounts.... all this power was too much for the stock mounts.... with these new items the ca has such a nice feel to it!! Really excited to put them under some proper stress in march :-)

byron i will make myself available in march to come and have a look

i ll bring my wank sock
