Vibra Technics Engine Mounts . Any point upgrading to these for an auto box . ?

Firstly I must point out that my mechanical knowledge is limited . I have been reading up about these engine mounts on this forum and the internet and one of the main reasons for fitting these seems to be for better gear shifting in cars with manual boxes. As I have a flappy paddle auto would I see any benefit from upgrading to these engine mounts ?

Thanks in advance

I didn’t fit them to fix any gearbox issue.

Mine were the road mounts for a Z4MC - which is already significantly stiffer than a roadster - as I was double-warned about the race versions.

I simply wanted to reduce the amount of brake dive and acceleration lift, from that moving boat anchor of an S54, so that the car was more balanced when driving hard.

I didn't notice any of the increased NVH that I was warned of before I fitted them, but then I don't drive the car with the radio off or with a standard exhaust/intake, so most of the time a small increase would not have been noticeable.

Mine were also fitted before I did the PSS10 suspension or Eibach roll-bars, and I didn't notice any further NVH once the full chassis upgraded had been completed.

I asked Ross at RBM (bowser134 on here) about these before I got my rod bearing shells replaced and he said they can feel pretty harsh on the road, but were probably a useful upgrade on a car that gets track use.

As my car won't be getting used on a track I asked him to fit OE mounts!

Based on road use would you fit them again if you had to or go back to OE ?

Have you got the track version ?

Thanks

Do you know if Ross was referring to the road or track version or just as a whole ?

Thanks

It was Vibra-Tech in general - we didn't get as far as which version in our conversation!

No experience with a Z4 specifically, but remember the engine is a 200KG weight - if thats moving around more than it should be, you'll feel it in the corners too.

A good point and one that has also been mentioned in other threads that got me thinking about these items but still not decided so I think I am going to see how it feels when I have finished doing some other upgrades and maybe take the plunge at a later date .

Thanks
