Vibra technic engine mounts

Didn't realise it was that simple to DIY.
I was always planning to order these, but think I might do so right now :)

With some basic tools (a fair bit of socket extenders also come in handy ;)) and skills its perfectly do able, be carefull though when working under the car, use proper ramps or axl-stands!

I did them one at a time, so when you 'jack-up' the engine block the fixed mount will tilt the block which gives enough room to replace the other engine mount.

I was about to buy them, then realised I was looking at the price for an individual mount instead of a pair :/

I've been eyeing these up for a while now, cheapest I can find them is here -

I've used them before for a few small things, they're active on M3cutters.

Any links to where I can buy the upgraded bolts mentioned in the above DIY?

"higher tensile strength (10.9)."

Likewise :D

I think ITAG organised a group buy of these early last year IIRC...

ETA: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=70533&start=45
though it looks like the group buy price was more expensive than awseomegti is on a single order

User on here is nfbr
An works in sales at awesome
Appears to have offered discount to forum members before on some products
Unsure if that would be cheaper than price from Europe, does anyone personally know this user

Do I really need them?

I still don't like the slight 'clunk' feeling changing gear, would this address that, or is it just the natural drive chain characteristic of the car? I never noticed it on my 3.0si or indeed any other car, or is it simply the fact the engine power causes slightly different behaviours?

I'm only on 16k, so can't imagine they are worn out...perished from lack of movement perhaps!

i don't think you do NEED them yet.... due to your miles... but even at 16k, you'd be shocked at the difference they make. i don't get that clunk your talking about btw.... you may want to get that checked out.

Possibly a poor phrase using the word clunk. More of a feeling of drive train being engaged and accelerator pressed after a gear change. Nothing nasty, but all I can compare it to is not as smooth as other cars if I'm not committed. Might just be a trait of the transparency this car shows vs my previous & mainly on cold engine & this certainly is a nicer drive once warmed up

Once warm it's so much better shifting after 3k than before, even if I feel a bit of a knob as even 3k in town from inside the car feels a few k revs higher than it actually is; always feels as though I am trying harder than I am when pulling away with mild pace.

Im a nightmare for just buying things, especially as 95% of my miles in a gentle motorway drive at 3,000rpm. I'm happy to admit (if not proud) that my skills are probably significantly lower than the car can handle, but enjoy it a great deal....not yet turned TC off though to give an idea as to my confidence levels - if it benefits the car / my driving then I will pay to get it done, I work hard enough to enjoy a few treats but need to prioritise

Looks: CSLs / aero skirts, Benefit: engine mounts
