Hi Folks - new on here following redirect from Pistonheads. Reposting a roof issue - very grateful for any pointers. See through searches others have problems with roof down - this is when up however..

...

A question for you seasoned veterans. The roof squeaks very badly when it's up. I don't know how else to describe it. First noticed it on an early run when I had a bike rack on the back and was cursing it as assumed it was the rubber feet moving on the boot. But it wasn't. Even on v smooth motorway cruising if the roof is up there is a constant orchestra of squeaks emanating from somewhere behind my head. And it gets rather annoying to say the least. Needless to say nothing at all audible with the roof down. Have ruled out anything to do with the seats.

I would lubricate all the pivot points with something like 3 in 1. Don't use WD40 though as that's not a lubricant.

Thanks srhutch - anything particular you'd recommend - oil or grease?

Also seen a few comments on Gummiplege for lubricating the rubber, notwithstanding some mixed commentary out there on whether the silicone element in it is ok or bad news for rubber
