Very sad day.

Not a happy day. I have got to part with my smashing Z4. My wife is disabled and of late her condition has got very much worse. She can no longer get in and out of the car without great difficulty and the hard suspension on the bumps and pot holes in the road causes her a lot of pain. I had hoped to enjoy the beast for at least a few more months untill my 80th birthday in November but that is no longer possable. I am trading in for a four door motor with a much higher seating position and softer suspension. I will of course continue to log on to the site each day and enjoy the postings. A sort of secondhand Z4 experiance. Best wishes to you all.

yep very sad, sometimes it would be nice if we could just sell the wifes instead hehe

Very sorry to hear that, my late wife had similar issues with vehicles and she liked the Volvo XC70. big comfy seats and a bit higher than the average car and a lot lower than my truck ....

Still driving a Zed at 79 is outstanding by the way.

Banedome,

Bad times - but hope the new motor allows both you and your good lady to continue to enjoy motoring. Stay with the Forum and the banter. No body is ever an ex member so share you new motor experiences with us all.

Uh, a few months till your 80th and your still running around in a z4 - respect  Hope i can say the same one day. Sorry to hear the reason why the change, regards

Sorry to hear this.

However my dad has similar issues and has a Citroen C5. He can raise and lower the height of the car by a large margin with its hydraulic suspension and this greatly helps him in and out of the car. It also has a super smooth ride quality.

So I was perhaps thinking the new DS5 might be perfect for you or how about a lovely C6.

Best of luck

Well said

Hope you enjoy your new car.

Sir, sad news indeed, I hope things generally aren't too uncomfortable for your wife.

Shame about the Z4, as has been said already, great to hear someone enjoying their retirement in this way and being part of the community - please stick around - the E89 club needs you!

Hope we get a farewell gallery shoot. If you need opinions on a replacement car, use the Other Marques section, we're full of them :) I wouldn't get a Mercedes though, people will think you're getting old 8)
