Very sad but it’s time to let my Z4 M40i go

Thanks Mikey, yes it is a lovely car and looking forward to summer adventures with the roof down.

Hi Jim, good to make the connection, I shall look out for your PM

Well, I have finally taken delivery of my new X2 M35i as a replacement for my Z4 M40i. The X2 is lovely car, beautifully finished inside and out. I have only driven 75 miles in it so far and it is very quiet and comfortable. However, I am not sure about the 7-speed DCT gearbox as it is a bit sluggish at low speeds . I much prefer the ZF8 torque converter gearbox of the Z4 and most of my other previous Beemers.

Glad its not just me thinking this RE the ZF8 against the DCT , it hastened my ownership for both 35is & M4  the 8ZF by far the better box , the DCT almost seems like a technical solution to a problem that didn't need solving

I agree mr wilks. However, the DCT7 box in the X2 does perform very well going up through the gears and out on the open road. Where it is let down is in stop-start driving and at low speeds where the gearbox is not so good and struggles to find the correct gear. I suppose it will just take some time to get used to it, especially after having several other Beemers with the fantastic ZF8 gearbox.
