Very sad but it’s time to let my Z4 M40i go

Well, I have thoroughly enjoyed my M40i but, sadly, it’s time to let it go and move on to something else.

Having recently viewed the new X2 M35i it took my fancy so I decided to order one for delivery early January and sell my beloved M40i, which is 5 years old with only 7,500 miles on the clock. Selling it to the dealer where I bought it in April 2019.

I will still keep an eye on the forum to keep track of what is happening in the Z4 world.

I have a lovely indoor car cover that I rarely used in my garage when going on the occasional holiday. It is like brand new, lovely stretch soft satin material black colour. Fits like a dream. Comes with a neat zip bag in the same material. I am offering to sell this to someone on the forum if interested. Cost over £200 and will consider any reasonable offer in the UK. Please PM me if interested.

Don't be a stranger, you don't need to go, once a zed owner, always a zed owner

Yes, I had two of them. Both my pride and joy. However, getting old now and need something a bit easier to get in and out of. The X2 M35i should be a nice replacement.
Will keep an eye on the forum even after my Zed is gone.

Congratulations on the new purchase and commiserations on the sale of the zed, tis a difficult decision to make with what's available out there.

A shame your Z4 is going, but sadly there comes a point in life where it just doesn't work.

I hope you enjoy your X2.

Thanks Mr Tidy. I’m sure the X2 will be very nice. :driving:

Yes, it sure was a hard decision on what to replace the Z4 with. Looked at the new X3 and almost bought the Mercedes GLC 300 AMG but pulled out at the last minute. Settled for the X2 M35i but it’s not cheap - almost £60k with extras :o

Sad to see you go. I suspect I’m not much longer in the zed unless I actually manage to lose weight and my leg improves.

I just love the car though!

I’m 75 now and, much as I loved my Zed, just felt that I needed to move on to something with a bit more accessibility and space without compromising too much on performance. Went for the X2 M35i which I think fits the bill.

That must have been really nice having the G29 when it came out in 2019. Did you have a Z4 or similar before or was this your first? That first drive home must have been ace in an M40i :D

I had a new E89 2-litre Valencia Orange Zed in 2016. Lovely car. However, the M40i is in a different league and I thoroughly enjoyed it for 5 years. As I said in my original post, it just felt that the time had come to move on to something a bit more accessible.
My signature below shows all the BMW’s I have owned - and I loved every one of them.

If you are thinking of getting the M40i, don’t hesitate just go for it. You won’t be disappointed. :driving:

Hi Jim, I believe I have just purchased your car. Its a great car and a credit to you. I am interested in the cover you have for the car and to hear about the ownership experience.

Best wishes

Colin

Hi Colin. I’m glad the car went to a good home as it was my pride and joy. As you can see from the car it was kept in immaculate condition inside a warm garage most of the time. I was very sorry to let it go but I am getting a bit old for it now (75) and I did not use it very often during the winter.
The driving experience of the car is second to none. Very powerful and the inline 6 engine is fantastic.
Regarding the cover. It is like brand new, Very soft and stretchy satin material. It is for internal use as it is not waterproof. See photos below. I will PM you with my contact number and we can talk about the car and the cover.
