Very rusty Z4

Looks like even the rear lights are faded... Whats up with that, never seen that before.

Not being funny but most times I have been near the coast, I have spotted plenty of rusty vehicles, that includes the IOW. The salt air attacks metal, that's why you see lots of rust stained buildings and tottaly rused away railings.
I suppose if you look after a vehicle, it will last better though :|

While that is always the case I would happily argue that the tape means the fault is known to the seller and if the buyer didn't notice that would be deceptive. Just as asking if there are any faults and being lied to, but easier to prove.

The consumer rights act provides very little protection on a private purchase (even less in an auction) All the seller has to do is answer honestly any questions and not overtly lie in the advert (i.e. 1 owner if it has several).
I'd always advocate a buyer I'd expert or takes someone who is. This is a perfect example that may have a serious hidden history
I'd only buy to break it ...
 
For a cheap price would be worth it- very little spend could save that z. I know it makes more sense to break but I'm a softy when it comes to zs

Get's nearly 12mpg with the LPG conversion. Another positive! And Airbag light now to see in all of its glory!
 
Relisted due to errors in the listing. Passenger air bag deactivated due to child seat and needs main dealer to activate. Yes quite a difficult job involving putting the key in the lock on passenger door jam and turning. BMW may need the car awhile to do this :D . On a more positive note the sticky tape has wisely decided to leave the car and the air bag light can now be seen.
 
Was my old car, sold honestly for a fair price with everything disclosed (including airbag light). The chap that bought it works within the motor trade and was going to tidy it up and make a profit - I was going to break it but didn't get round to it due to other commitments and paying £50 a month to keep it taxed and insured for old after 6 months hence why I let it go cheap.

I should hide from the comments about the state of the bodywork but in reality, I loved the car but lowering a Z with best intentions following a broken spring for what was supposed to be 10mm but must have been 30mm and doing 80000 miles in 4 years probably isn't a good idea!

This will sound like bollocks however:

All 4 arches were rusting, front bumper goosed, the door handles didn't work and I bought a new(er) car. I then stopped driving the Z and whilst busy at work, it took me about a month to get round to start tidying it up to sell. By that time, the battery was failing however I jump started it to get it to the local garage and paid £350 for new catches and carriers.

Upon collecting the car, it needed jump starting again - I obliged and took it for a drive, stopping at my mates place, leaving it on a hill in case it didn't restart - it didn't so I bump started it and couldn't get the alarm to shut up.

Following driving it enough to juice the battery to silence the alarm, I parked it outside my house and used the key to lock the door to stop the alarm causing any more problems until I could get a new battery.

Upon doing so I noticed somebody had creamed my rear wing whilst parked outside my mates.

2 days later I noticed a freak set of bad luck, the car had been broken into with my custom double din head unit and amps nicked! No alram or damage as I hadn't used the key to deadlock it.

I was monumentally pissed off and it took me 6 months and a cheap bid without advertising to let it go - I was ready for breaking it.

I was asked to put an MOT on the car which I did to the tune of £300 worth of work and sold it on for someone to make pretty and probably some cash on. It is mechanically sound - I paid £1150 for the LPG alone, it has M-sport seats, clear pre facelift Xenons, tri-colour m-sport wheel, wind deflector etc.

I've not been here for a while but just wanted to put over my side :thumbsup:
 
Yep, I was dong a lot of motorway miles and by the time I noticed one arch bubbling away they all were - started about 2 years ago.

Hi,

So the car wasn't CAT D or anything? If not its interesting the wings rusted, I'm wondering if its something other hile mileage zeds may develop and become a "zed thing" as more and more cars get to 150k plus mileage. Did you de tango the lights yourself or are they the proper and rare pre facelift xenon units?
 
No not a cat d! I assume any lowered 150,000 mile Z would rust the same!

The lights are a cut and shut done by me a few years ago.

Food for thought for anyone lowering their zed and keeping it long term then. What springs, suspension kit did you use? I think the ad says bilstein, was it the B12 kit?
 
I'm sure there are 150k mile plus Zeds on here that haven't rusted like yours did. Are you saying that lowering the car contributed to the rust issue - if so why?
 
Nice to see an honest story about how the Zed deteriorated over time and mileage. Nothing wrong in posting

eBay seller just seems to be trying to move it on quickly with less integrity
