Very lucky I noticed it before it caused some damage!!

Was accelerating off the line and I looked in my right wing mirror and it was flapping about ...dropped the window and pushed the top part and it fell out in my hand...
PHEW....
what do I use to glue it back on???

Happened to me on the motorway earlier this year - was able to turn off, find a Motor spares shop and amazingly they had a wing mirror glass to replace the one lost - about £10 later I was back on my way!

The glass was attached using a piece of double sided tape - the pad was already attached to the glass and after being peeled back the glass amd attached pad was carefully attached in the right place using the cardboard packaging as a spacer at the bottom - the packaging recommended doing this when the sticky pad was warm.

You might ask at a Motor Factors if they had any appropriate double sided pads / tape?

Standard behaviour , refix the other one to as that won't be far behind :)
rear springs & dodgy bonnet alarm switch are the other top fails

Two things you can use to refix it:

1. Super glue
2. Sticky strips

I would favour sticky strips - as glue sticks the glass on rigid, making it impossible to take off again. Any slight crack in the glass would mean a whole new mirror unit. A few members have successfully used glue ....

Not sure id go for either of those two TBH. remember they are heated so sticky strips are a bit questionable. you have a large surface over the back and not the smoothest if you are retaining the heating pad so super glue would be out.

epoxy or silicon would be the way to go

I used silicon sealant/mastic.........been on for over a year now with no probs.

my housemates an engineer and I used some of his silicon he uses for work... resists temperatures up to 300c... how hot could my mirrors possibly get? :)
